I'm leary of it, mostly because of the side effects I've seen in people. It builds up in your body and doesn't leave, even with chelation therapy. For some interesting pictures, look up "argyria" on Google images. (It's safe for work.) I don't know of any poisoning side effects other than the color, and maybe if you're using a few micro-doses it won't be a problem.

Working with the natural health industry, I've seen it come into trend as the next miracle supplement. But I also haven't seen any major benefits in people I know who have taken it.

It does have side effects. I know there are a lot of things out there that have been said to not work and do to though. I don't know much about this stuff. It's something I never tested, so I don't know for sure how well it works. It has been used for centuries though and I like that. These are the types that intrigue me. LOL I trust the old and not the new in so many cases. That being said, I don't really know much about it and what I remember is very vague. I would definately use extremely small amounts.

ummm missy, i have poly-vi-sol without iron that i can bring you...
ive got tons of crud for ill/injured chickens in my fridge. no room for butter!

But i did get my bottle from the CVS on california, so i know they have it. If it seems too much for you I can take the chick back and treat him. as i said i have plenty other that can be switched.

I really honestly feel like silkies are often mislabled as having wry neck because they are so teeny tiny and easily bullied into not getting as much feed as the other chicks. A vitamin deficiency will cause what looks like wry neck whereas wry neck is actually caused from illness. Thats why people will say to give poly-vi-sol to chicks with wry neck. Wry neck actually requires extensive medication that can only come from feed stores and in most cases the bird wont make it. Ive seen the vitamin deficiency occour in my showgirls that grew to be healthy and normal. but then again, i also think its easier for chicks to bounce back than adults.. Poly-vi-sol is for children so you wont find it at the feed store. I cannot stress enough though that it has to be without iron.

I hope the chickie gets better. I feel absolutely terrible for it and you! I do think though that if you get on it today then youll be nipping the problem in the bud and the chick will have a very good chance of making it.

i am only speaking from my experience with this issue....I also did read that you can give as much poly-vi-sol to the chick as you want. they cant o.d. on it because the kidneys just sort out any extra of what theyre getting. so if you wanted to give him the stuff 4 times a day to make sure he is getting enough then that would be perfectly okay

I think that will look so cool! I was gonna suggest the same thing. Forget the cling and just use glass paint on the window itself.

I've made a living in stained glass since I was 16 but as an artist, I have to agree, this is a great idea since it's in a shower AND you can purchase liquid lead to mimic that soldering...and it looks like the real thing. You can also glue real stained glass to the clear glass and use an actual lead that has sticky on it to adhere to the window.....so many choices..... I can't wait to see your stained glass flamingo!

Here's my art glass stores website if anyone's interested www.creativeglasscarvings.com and wow, now that I look at it....it's in desperate need of update! It still says 2010! I have too many jobs....

Has anyone tried colloidal silver? I have a chicken that couldn't walk and I gave her some vitamins with electrolytes and brought her in the house and to my store last week because my husband was supposed to go get me some Polyvisol and bring it to me because I wanted to start treatment asap...some lack of communication but he never picked it up. On some research I saw the colloidal silver is good and I happened to have a customer who's mom makes it so she made me some. Haven't given any because she's doing better after another customer who does Rakie (sp) did a session on her and she stood up for the first time in two days. She said she'd send her another session that evening and the darn chicken stood up again. Was walking by the next morning and has returned to the coop. As of yesterday she has returned to the roost after working her way up.

But I'm still curious about the colloidal silver and wondered if anyone had dosage info on it.

I think if using it on a chick you would only want to do a drop, maybe 2.

This girl is about a year. Her name is Tiffany because she lays Tiffany blue eggs. When I nerve tested her I felt she had a leg injury so the house/store rest I think was good, and since she's recovered, that's what I'm guessing. But I got curios about the silver stuff and thought that of all BYCers you Kim would have tried it. FYI, the woman who made it for me is almost 90 and she's been drinking it for years!

I think the silver man thing is a hoax and only hurts people that would benifit from something, from trying it.

I went to CVS and got some, and it's the type without iron. He got some in his mouth, and there's some in the drinking water. Still eating and drinking normally, but he's understandably flighty. Thanks so much for your help, everyone! I'll let you know how it works.
