I have 5 1/2 dozen in the fridge right now and i only have room for another half dozen! i am completely out of egg cartons too! Anyone have suggesitons on things i can use instead of egg cartons. I will seriously get rid of all of these by tomorrow if i can.

well, in mexico, you just get your eggs at the market in a plastic bag. Not quite as protected that way but...

With this new fire, I was just thinking I would be in trouble if we had to evacuate. I really don't have carriers in which to transport my chickens. suggestions for rather cheap small containers for chickens, anyone? I'd have to have several smaller ones to fit in our small cars.Maybe i'll have to look for pet carriers at goodwill or something.

Missy, I don't believe we do have anyone over there that I'm aware of.

Aubrey, let me help you with your egg problem. I have a waiting list for my eggs. I can contact them tomorrow and I'll let you know right away if that's okay with you? I'm selling my eggs for $4 per dozen, please let me know how much your eggs are going to cost. I have tons of cartons if you want to come over here and we can put the eggs together? We can weigh them and make them weigh what they should be for the total weight since I know you have different size eggs like I do? Call me.

Elizabeth, I use dog crates for mine. I think you should try the goodwill stores and see if they have any. I wished I've thought of that before but hey a good idea is a good idea!

Start making angel's food cakes! They chew up about a dozen at a time.

Quinniewynz,

I sent you a pm back... But not sure if it took as it was through the e-mail link and not direct. Let me know if you got it.

re: Bread
Y'all are making me HONGREE!!!!!!

For store bought we really enjoy Trader Joe's Cracked Wheat Sourdough bread. Great for paninis. Hard to get good sourdough flavor away from the San Francisco Bay Area when you're out of state.
But, oh yeahhh, the home-made stuff is SOOOOO much more yummy than anything from the store. I used to bake a loaf every few days (and I have the ample rump to prove it!)... But there's only so much french toast, bread pudding, croutons and sandwiches you can navigate before you realize Man cannot live on bread alone.... (but it's nummers to try!) Now I'm into muffins. Still getting The Fiber Inquisition from DH.... Sigh.

I'll help you out. We don't QUITE have enough layers for our family's needs, so we're down on the egg count right now. I was just going to do without eggs for a week until we got the count back up. But I'd love to buy some of yours, and I have a few cartons you can have.
