Nevadans?

Ok, here are the W/BW chicks for which I'd like Candy's gender assessment (or anyone else who knows about this). Thanks!

and here are #3 and #2 from above together.

and here's #2 and #1 from above together

I was hoping you'd hold some. I'm going to see if Karen would also.

Didn't I give you gray eggs? That's what these started out as, then they changed to this

That blue egg is from one of my Lav AM Pullets, Lettie. She's the one that is darker but smaller than Lavern. The pinker eggs and Letties eggs are part of the project. Lavern's eggs still have a tint of green and I don't know if they'd work for purple.

I had 1 gray egg but it didn't hatch,

Wow! That pic above really shows the pretty lavender color!!!

Candy, Lacey is a girl for sure. I compared pictures last night between her and my roo with the other girls and she fits right in with the girls combs.

Aubrey, I was thinking of picking up the incubator on Thursday if that's okay. I should be fine with the since we didn't do the staggered hatching like John wanted to do. I knew we couldn't do it with just the single incubator. But for realsies you are more than welcome to come on over and watch the duckies hatch. This might help convince Mark you can have ducks. Tell him they love to eat flies, which they really do, Sierra caught one yesterday in mid air. Luckily I've only seen 2 so far.

Seth every chicken breed is different when you are trying to sex them.

This is a picture of my Lacey from last year, you can see how big his comb was.

And this is a picture of Wynonna with her comb last year.

It's a pretty big difference here.

My mom has 28 chickens, and I've got mine from chick day, my OEGB, and Yoshi. We never used to seperate them, but now I have the money to do so, Im trying to figure out how to make a large mobile pen, because I realized when I move, I have to leave the chickens behind since they're 'the family's' Solution? Get my own chicks. ^^ I love everyone's chickens and pictures!! So adorable. :]
Great news everyone!!! Im buying a new camera!!

I don't know why I have trouble figuring out how many chickens I have! Probably because they're all over the place and just as soon as I think I counted everyone, a few more run over. I put out scratch in three places the other day to get the count but a few of them were going from pile to pile, but I think I have 21. 5 roos and the rest are hens. Sunny's giving me a WCB Polish pullet

and I'll be buying some Marans from her too, to add another color to dazzle my egg buyers. Plus, whatever I get from my EE's and Polish when someone goes broody. Of course my grandkids have their order in and then I'll pick some EE pullets to try to keep up with my egg business and of course the Polish to add to the breeding program or sell for people who want some eye candy. I'll be selling two WCB roos this year and adding some other Polish pullets that catch my fancy. Next year I'll be selling my Self Black Polish roo after I get some WC Blue's from him. Then I'll be looking for another Polish roo. Not sure of color until I see what I get from this next generation. SOOO much fun!

So Im finally going to start selling these bad boys and have at least half of my feed payed for by the end of the month. I feel as though my colors are growing dull right now. Is that normal for this time of year? I thought the dullness came later in the summer. Or maybe Im just used to my egg colors. I sure hope that if my gc marans is a girl it lays a good dark egg and that the OEs lay some cool colored eggs. I might sell them if they just end up laying brown. I have enough brown. Surprisingly my EEs arent laying as many as usual right now. Darla layed a teeny egg this week and thats about it. I am also having a hard time figuring out how i am going to sell all of these DIRTY POOPY EGGS. my broodys are taking over the nesting boxes and the girls are laying everywhere. I think i am going to need to start investing in one of those real stacky nesting boxes. Ill maybe go look online right now at some cheap options *sigh*

Sheryl, thursday works well for me. I can drop it off or you can pick it up but either way Im off at 3:00 and will most likely be home by 3:30 depending on if I drive or ride my bike.

Lacey I cant wait until you get A new camera, you used to post the most beautiful pictures.

Oh I almost forgot. I got an e-mail today from a friend who said that her sister is trying to find good homes for her two pet chickens. They are three years old but the family has to move and cant take them. Its a barred rock and a buff orp. I want them so badly to come here and live out their days but Mark said no more right now, and I have to respect that since he lets me get away with so much. I was wondering if any of you wanted some old ladies to come live out their days and retire? She says theyre still laying for now too...

on the camera. I really want to buy a digital SLR but it will have to wait awhile. My digital point & shoot is pretty good. I have two film SLR's but it's a pain to use those in this digital age. I still shoot some film once in awhile.

Looks like a very nice egg carton with lots of colors.

on the GC marans and OEs eggs. I hope at least one of my GC marans is a pullet. I like my welsummer eggs but I'd like some even darker ones.

The older chicks moved to the bathroom brooder today. With all that extra room, immediately they started dust bathing, scratching bedding everywhere, and challenging each other. The dogs sat on the other side and watched. I have pics... which I can give everyone in 3 weeks.

My son is all of the sudden stuffed up and his nose is cherry red. I gave him some Benadryl, to see if it was an allergy. I don't think a cold would come on that fast, right after I had moved the chicks to a new brooder with fresh bedding. Hope it doesn't get too bad! He wasn't allergic to the chicks we had last year.

Update: The Benadryl gave him relief within 20 minutes, so looks like we have an allergy. Now to figure out if it's the rice hulls, the pine shavings, the dust in general, or the chickens.
