Thank you for the birthday wishes! A friend offered to babysit the kids last night so we could go out for an early birthday celebration. we ate Thai food--I had yummy pumpkin curry. Then we went to see the Hunger Games--I have read the books and it's a very intriguing series. anyway, I got sick to my stomach during the movie and had to leave. It was disappointing to miss the rest of the movie but really nothing I could do about it. I went straight to bed and feel okay today.

That she is!
Glad to hear your DD is doing so much better! Sorry your b-day celebration got cut short though.
Good job Sunny!!!! So glad to hear she's doing well too! I had to help a chick and wished I had intervened earlier because it was the way she was positioned in the egg. She never could have come out on her own. These are good stories for those of us hatching, to store for future incubation's where we may need to intervene. I think the hardest part it to figure out when to make the leap!
That is the hardest part! I try not to intervene much but I am not good at keeping my mitts off!
haha Since I caused this problem in the first place though I had to try. Of course I intervene on a regular basis so that excuse doesn't fly either. Yes I've had to cull a couple that I "saved" cause there was a reason they couldn't hatch (well there's always a reason but you know what I mean). But there are a dozen babies that have made it because I intervened and they grew up happy and healthy! So I will probably keep helping out when I feel like a little fighter just needs a little help.

Gorgeous coop! IDK what happened to our coop when it was put back together but DH must have forgotten how it came apart cause it does not look the same! lol Oh well at least it's safe for the birds. That's all I care about. Yes we need more updated pics!
*says the lady that just remembered she owes you all some chick pics*
Ron what do you do to keep predators from burrowing under the fence? I lock them up tight at night but I worry about during the day. Genny suggested instead of burying fencing that I lay fencing about 2 feet out (attached at the bottom to the existing fence) to keep coyotes from digging under. I thought that some heavy rocks on top of this would help to be sure they don't get under it.
We thought for sure we would get wild birds in our run and it never happened. The openings are now closed but the door remains open during the day.
I haven't had the wild birds get in yet either but the magpies drive the dogs nuts stealing their dog food.
