Nevadans?

No but thank you for asking Missy! Steve does an amazing job taking great care of me when my back's acting up. He is such a Sweetie.

Can't wait to hear about Sahara's reaction tonight!!! She's gonna be so thrilled!

Don't forget me, out in Crescent Valley, Nevada! Kinda an uncommon town, but oh wells!:)

Hi BullardBarnyard! I see you are out past Battle Mountain. Welcome to the Nevada thread!

I will add you to the opening post now.

Hello BullardBarnyard. I know where Wells is but not where Crescent Valley is located. Nice to see you on here.

It was great seeing everyone at the swap and thank you Elizabeth for the little BLRW pullet! In case anyone hasn't guess yet, we named her LACEY III, this is our 3rd chicken named Lacey but the other 2 ended up being roos until now. Elizabeth, your chickens are the sweetest and calmest like I've never seen before. She's doing great here too. Thank you so much!

It was great meeting Mandy, Ty and their little boy, seeing Julie, Elizabeth, Missy and Russell was really great too. It sure will be good when we get together again.

Sunny, I hope you back gets better right away. I know how you hate not being able to do things.

Thanks Sheryl. Yes I really do hate being held down like this. Really irritating.

Hope you all had a great time at the swap! Everything here is fine except for my stupid back. It hates me but the feeling is mutual. Trying to hang out at the swap would have been a disaster the way it's been acting up. I guess I thrashed it yesterday running errands.

Sorry. Trying not to whine. Anyway let me know how it went!
Hope you get to feeling better! Probably some rest is a good idea.

Sorry about your back! Is there anything we can do to help?

The swap was little, but it was really nice to see Sheryl and Elizabeth, and Seth's mom, and to meet Mandy and Julie.

Sahara got to cuddle Julie's ducklings, still trying to convince me to get some. But she admitted to Julie that they would probably come next year, because I told her, "If it's not in the house right now, we're not getting anything else this year." She got a little emotional for a second... just a catch in her voice. I said, "You really want ducks, don't you, honey?" Her dad will drop her off at 8pm tonight. I'd try to videotape her response, but that might be kind of awkward since they're in the bathroom.
Good to see you again, Missy. It should be exciting to see how Sahara reacts to those ducklings! I guess she is not a very suspicious child

what with you painting ducks on the coop and giving her a book on raising ducklings. She will take good care of them, I'm sure.

welcome! Do you have chickens already and what kinds?

Glad to offer you the BLRW pullet and that she's staying sweet. It will be fun to see how she turns out. That batch of BLRW have all been sweet and friendly since I got them.

It was so great to meet everyone today. I had such a nice time talking to you all. I can't wait to do it again. It will be a while before the farmers market gets up and running of course, but maybe we could do a BYC potluck or something? Then everyone could see my place and get a feel for things.

Sunny I'm so sorry about your back, but I definitly understand. I have fibromyalgia, but I refuse to act like it, so by the end of the week sometimes all I can do is sit here and read to my boys. I don't mind though, I'm only 30 and I refuse to act like some drugged out zombie all the time. That is kind of why I was bribing people with free booths for help though LOL.

Good to meet you, Mandy. We will definitely be up for another get together. It was fun last year.

Sunny, yep-the three chicks we got from you were Ameraucana's...we just picked them up from you last year on Easter morning, lol.

As for finding Banties, I sent Genny a PM a couple weeks ago and haven't heard back from her. Soooo, I bought three CornishX chicks to give my momma bird a baby fix, and then I guess we'll have a few super tasty meals come July.

Happy Weekend!

Her reaction... she walked into the bathroom and asked, "Are those ducks?"

Russ said, "No, they're oxen."

She loves them, but didn't expect them to be so wiggly! The chickens are active, but these are little squirm monsters, and they're fast! She learned very soon that you need to keep hold of them, because otherwise they'll climb up to your shoulder and dive off.

Here are a few pics...

The blue swedish are Balut and Foie Gras, and the cayuga is Century. (Ever looked up a century egg on Google?) Sahara might change Foie Gras' name to Roast. We'll see.

Here, Joe got sharp instruction, "Do NOT let that duck jump!"

Oh my gosh that smile is just precious!!! How cool!

And yes, I know what a century egg is. I doubt any of us from the Bay Area don't know since there is such a large Asian community there. But

I know they are not literally a hundred years old but still... gross!

IDK how I missed this post earlier! Thanks for the sympathy Mandy. Consider us bribed. Steve says he doesn't mind helping out while we are selling at the Farmer's Market.

He especially understood when I told him you have fibromyalgia.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes! I appreciate it very much!!!

I am up for a potluck. That sounds like fun. If my back is still out I will just bring the chair. In fact it might be a good idea for me to find out if I can navigate with it up there. I tried it once and it really didn't work on the boardwalk area in VC. Most of the shops were OK though.
