Nevadans?

I think duckling cuddling time is a perfectly productive activity! I am planning a coop clean out this weekend. Yuck! I need to get some more trash bins for composting and make sure I wear a mask. the dust always gets my sinuses clogged.
good luck on the build!
Yeah the last time I started to clean mine I went about 5 minutes then realized I better get dust masks and goggles. I wouldn't have been able to breathe for a month!

OMG! After my last post my laptop went crazy. I ran Norton and tried again and an ad window kept through up all over my screen. I tried to get the link for the pamphlets, but when I search or put the addie in I get the same site over and over and over. Been trying to get back in here for hours, but the page just kept spinning and saying connecting. I really need to get this thing to my daughter's friend's NASA boyfriend so he can fix it for me.
I don't know your level of expertise Kim but it sounds to me like you have spyware. The easiest way to fix it is to run System Restore to a date before you started having issues. I can give you instructions if you like - PM me.

Ron, can you talk or is your throat too sore. That's quite a surgery for an adult I hear.
Not really! I've been sitting here wishing I knew ASL, but then I realized no on else I know would understand it anyway.

Glad to hear you are feeling better today Ron! It's unusual for folks our age to still have their tonsils. I still have mine. I take it you had some recurring problems with them? They won't take them out these days without a good reason. Hope the healing process goes a little faster for you! Sounds painful!
Yes I had an abscess (sp?) a few months ago which actually hurt worse than this does. Plus I was hospitalized for four days to get rid of it! Then a few weeks ago I came down with strep again and the ENT told me it would just keep coming back. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone though...

I've been bad since I got this thing about a year and a half ago. I added Norton and I've added dates to Restore, but I'm bad at adding a new restore date and it's saying I don't have one available. Horrible and embarrassing confession. Last time I was in colleg I was actually there to mostly use the gym, but i was also studying Alternative Medicine. Thing is That major wasn't covered for help, because it wasn't a non traditional woman's goal, so I became a Computer Science major. At least I learned how to turn one on before I got nored and frustrated.

These past couple days, I've been noticing that my coop is very dusty, making it hard to breathe when I go in. And all the windows are wide open, and the chickens spend most of their time outside instead of scratching at the dirt. Is there anything I can do to keep the dust down, other than ventilate? Spraying it with water would just create a more toxic environment, wouldn't it?

maybe cover your pine shavings with straw? I have my windows exactly across from eachother east and west which creates a nice cross-breeze and helps keep the dust out...but when the windows are shut it gets sort of dense in there. Im buying the larger pine shavings from greens feed and that seems to help A LOT as well.

I definitely would not spray with water Missy. Like you said - that will cause even worse problems, particularly mold/fungus.

What are you using right now? I only use straw, but I don't really notice any dust unless I'm cleaning out. Also, I have windows opposite each other like Aubrey - that definitely helps, at least after the weather warms. What kind of square footage is there and how many birds are in it?

Are buff orpingtons known for being broody? I went in to close up the coop tonight and one of my BOs was still in the nest box. That's a first. she was sitting on one of the ceramic eggs I have in there. could be interesting. and just when everyone's been so good about laying in the boxes lately.
