Nevadans?

Kim, are you Native American? My husband is a linguistic anthropologist who did a lot of work with the Nuumic languages, especially the Owens Valley Paiute and Big Pine tribes. That is, until the council decided not to renew his contract a few years ago.
That's cool. One of my best friends is Paiute. I have a lot of friends that are Miwok, but most are from other states.

Most of us though moved out here young with either the military or for parents that attended colleges. Most went back home to their little Res Rocks and a few of us are still here. I have multiple tribes which means multiple tribal conflicts. LOL Even within myself hehe. Most of my people were medicine people. I used to work at the Intertrible Friendship House, Native American Drop-In Center, Urban Indian Child Resource Center (Now, Native American Child Resource Center) all in Oakland and I taught beadwork and silver all over. Oh and my mom send a bout to get me off of Alcatraz. Talk about devistation! LOL

Kim are you talking about the Pow Wow they have in Carson City? I know people come from all over the west - maybe farther. I think it's coming up really soon. I love to go to it! The costumes are so cool. Here's some pics from it.

I love the regalia. I kind of miss dancing, but I'm old and I hate to conform. LOL

I'm going to the Stanford Mother's Day Pow Wow. I have a link to it on the first post of the CA thread. I don't travel much, so haven't ever been to the Reno ones. Used to go to some in Washington and Oklahoma though when I was much much younger.

You guys need to come down and camp with us.

Yay for cows! Holding off until July or august works great for me. For those of you that have been here you know how much work needs to be done. So waiting a while is great. Plus I'm pretty sure this is my family reunion year which means I'll be gone part of July.

I love to make all kinds of jewelry and those little feather ribbons everyone has in their hair these days. I'm happy to make them and give them back to people for just over my cost, then you could sell them for fundraisers and such. I also make dream catchers, etc...

Aubrey I know I don't know you, but my unsolicited advice... Enjoy the time you have and if it's meant to happen it will. That way you'll be more surprised, he'll be more ready, and you won't have put a ton of extra stress on a part of life that's stressful enough.

Boysenberry jam is my favorite!!!
Ohhhh Mandy! You really have to know them both to understand why it's so funny. Sorry some of the stuff we post has inside humor and there's no way to catch up on it in short order.
My romantic wedding was black leather and a Harley. Huge difference from my once dream wedding and the 100's I did. Gotta be me.

Sunny I know you have some of this stuff, but I put you a little collection together. It's not much, but hopefully enough until my supplies get here, plus I get a lot of my stuff at the Pow Wow, so maybe they'll have some of the foldovers.

So maybe if I post it I'll remember I have to buy coyote faces. Two more days and I'll be eating fry bread and listening to all the drums. Last year was hard without Bill and I'm sure this year will be too, but I have to go. I was going to rent an SUV, but looks like the Jag is camping for the second year in a row.

I really need to get my van fixed somehow.
OK what are coyote faces (besides the obvious) and what are they for?

That sounds like a blast! I had a terrible allergic reaction last night and Steve had to take me into emergency. I'm fine but still a bit poofy and itchy. Can I go even if I'm still funny looking? LOL! JK, We can't go anywhere this weekend. I can't expose my sorry little self to any more pollens or horse dander for at least a week.

From what I understand by reading other posts, your count goes down when moderators delete some threads.

Sunny, I hope you get feeling better soon! I'm so lucky to come from an un-allergic family. Each of my siblings and I have one thing we're allergic to. Mine is penicillin, but the scotch broom bugs me a bit. But I don't think I'm a special case there. My husband used to be allergic to nothing, but last year I dried some lavender in the dehydrator and he got stuffed up. We figured it was just a mild respiratory allergy, until I made some lemon lavender teacakes for a friend, and his throat started closing up. So I took out all of the lavender in the house, including the essential oils.

Yes you are very lucky! I really have a hard time admitting, even to myself, that they are a problem. I mean I am such a cool old gal!!! How could I have such an uncool problem?
