Well, Aubrey, maybe he will change his mind at some point. There are some very practical reasons for getting married officially that may become more important as you get older. In a few years, you could just plan a trip to Vegas and walk by a wedding chapel

It was getting too hot for the chicks in the garage by the afternoon so I decided I had better move them out to the coop. yesterday after work I just brought them inside the house in the hallway alcove and then put them back in the brooder for the night. the kids and I played with them for a bit while they were in the hallway. they are pretty skittish still but a few started warming up to us. the dark brahama is the friendliest. This morning I moved them out to the divided section of the coop. I didn't give them access to the run yet. I'll let them get used to one thing at a time and those silkies are so small I'll have to see how they do with the ramp. So we'll see how it goes. I think it will be hardest for the 11 wk olds tonight when they don't have their usual corner to huddle up in. trying to figure out what to do for them to make them feel more at home with the big girls.

I am fairly certain I have a speckled sussex roo amongst the 4 week olds. I have 2 and one has a larger comb, is slower to feather in and has a stubby tail.

I got the broody out of the nest box and she ate and had some water and went outside for a bit but then she was right back in there. She's stubborn but at least she did eat. The girls were really slacking off yesterday. We only got 9 eggs out of 18 girls. Of course the one is broody but we've been getting 13-15 a day. Hopefully they'll pick it up today. Someone wants 2 dozen tomorrow and we need 7 more to fill that.

Thanks for all the congrats everyone!

I did say "Yes!" after I yelled "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!". I was surprised, there was so much going on that week already!

It came the day after our 5.5 yrs mark, which we didn't really notice.

Aubrey, we are like that, too. Been living together, share bills, have a mini-petting zoo, a house, etc. etc. and planned on being together. I was very surprised! I thought it would come someday, but I didn't really think too much about it, except when family and friends would ask those awkward questions...

Okay just a little explaination on the marriage issue (hahaha). Mark and I have been together for five years in June and have lived together for all but three months of those so were practically married anyhow. The funny part is that I never cared about marriage at all until Markie told me he doesnt believe in marriage and will never be married. Well geeze how do you say THAT to a bull headed girl and not expect her to take it as a challenge? One of these days I will win. Since I was a little girl the only part of marriage that enticed me was going to vegas and getting wed by an elvis impersonator. (yes i dream big) It remains my pre 30 yr goal. Basically weve got this house, the dog, cats, birds, cars, bills, etc etc etc bonding us, so hes stuck with me no matter what, HA!
Mark and I are such a pair of goofballs that no matter what i just know we will always be a team. Were like bread and butter him and i. In fact, our rastifarian neighbor up the street stopped by one day to tell us that his mama always told him "dont ever leave the house with your girl lookin' like oil and water". he wanted us to know we never look like oil and water. Omg it was adorable. Love this guy no matter what. Hes definitely my soulmate. I know I am very young but i have had my share of losers before him too. Although he does keep talking about turning 40. "oh when i turn 40.." or" these trees will have fruit by the time im 40..." Geeze mark, Lets not talk about that yet OKAY?!?!

holy heck im ranting or something. (dont worry im just sleep deprived :D )

Tyler! dont be sad about turning 19....it was a life changing year for me and i bet it will be for you too :)
That's awesome - I went to the wedding of a good friend of mine in Vegas and there was an Elvis impersonator at the chapel! It was one of those chapels on the Strip which I used to think was kind of hokey but it actually turned out very cool! Re: the shotgun thing. My (now) brother-in-law and I were having a beer one day and I said to him "So Ed, are you ever gonna propose to my sister or am I gonna have to get my shotgun?" He looked at me kinda funny and a week later they were engaged. LOL!
