Nevadans?

I am looking to make pickles, many of the recipes suggest grape leaves... does anyone in the Reno area have a grape bush that I could snag some leaves from?

Oh wow you guys! This is really a hoot. I was having a hard time keeping up with the conversations until Aubrey spoke up and set me straight actually. So I'm glad you did it intentionally.

I see where Lacy is coming from. When we go to Florida those mister fans are all over the place down there. They do sell them all in one kit too so I think if you buy them and something happens then the company is responsible perhaps.

My sister called me yesterday to let me in on what's going on with her and her liver disease. She's getting really close to cirrhosis now even though her blood enzymes did go down but the doctor told her yesterday they were not low enough. Her doctor said she wants to test my sister for this disease called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin. It usually attacks the lungs but it can also attack the liver either alone or together. This is a genetic disease. If she has it then her kids and grand kids will need to be tested for it. It's to late for us though and our children if we have it but they can save the grand kids if this is what killed my Mom. If there is liver disease and lung disease in the family then you have a stronger case for this disease. If this is true then I'm not in remission as we thought and my disease is getting worse without drastic changes to my diet, lifestyle and treatment. I went to my doctor today to get some lab work done. Hopefully I'll know by next week. If it's the case then we will need to test the rest of the family for this. It's a protein enzyme we are missing, if this is the case, and the liver can't do it's job properly. I'm not sure what to do right now but to wait. Everyone who has this disease will eventually go into cirrhosis. I'll start a support group if this is the case.

I'll keep everyone updated.

Goodnight! I'm on day shift tomorrow.
Oh Sheryl! I am so sorry to hear about you and your family!! I sure hope you will have good news next week! I was just thinking about you when I took this picture last night. The chicks mom decided she was through with them so now dad is taking on the job of looking after them

If that one falls through, I have an entire back fence covered with grape vines. Yesterday, I hacked a bunch off so they wouldn't shade my other produce too much. I've considered making dolmades for my husband, but each spring when they're nice and tender, I've been so busy doing other stuff.

Candy, I love seeing daddy take care of them! I'm so happy that I got 1 BLRW pullet from you, and she's a BEAUTY! Her name is Soup (named by my husband.) She's pretty docile, except to the younger chickens. Maybe that's a wyandotte thing. My SLW is always the first to pick on the younger ones.

Sunny, I hope you can find another helper. I'll let you know if I have this next Thursday available. The client on that day sometimes cancles, sometimes doesn't.

Thank you, I will keep it in mind.
I will be in town at Costco tomorrow if dropping the jars off would work for you.

Sheryl, I hope you and your sister are well. Let us know!

Thank you Missy. I've been fighting this for 9 years now. My sister found out a few years ago when her and Glenn went to buy life insurance and they wouldn't insure her because of her enzyme levels. That's when she went to her doctor. She was in denial for years. I would talk to her about what my doctors were doing but she said she didn't want to hear it because she had the University of Florida doctors studying her. I explained how studies worked but again she didn't want to hear it from me. I've always felt she would go into cirrhosis before me but I've always prayed she wouldn't She just kept saying she only has fatty liver. Now she says she's never had fatty liver and she asked me yesterday if she ever told me that and I said every time we would talk you would tell me you only have fatty liver and you won't be going into cirrhosis like I am. She still won't listen though. I've lasted so much longer than her.

It's gotten to where even the lady at the lab asks me how am I doing and then she says, is your sister still in denial? Of course. I still can't talk to her about it. If she doesn't get the proper treatment she'll be gone before me.
Hi all! Waiting for Steve's doctor to call us in right now so I'm checking in while I have service. Steve has messed up his shoulder again trying to get stuff done around here. Nothing serious though... just normal old people stuff. lol

We got the layer's coop off of it's pier blocks on Wednesday so we are making progress. In fact with Missy and the kid's help things are coming along much faster than I expected. t is very encouraging to see stuff getting done! We could afford one more helper if anyone is interested in making a little extra cash on the side. The stuff I need help with the most right now requires the use of power tools so I need someone who knows how to use these tools. I can do some training but with my physical problems the amount I'm able to do is limited.

Hahaha!!!

Oh no Sheryl!!! I don't know whether to be terrified for you and your sister or to be happy that this is sometyhing that can be caught early and treated for all the granbabies and every generation to come! I guess I'm feeling both emotions right now. I know as a grandmother I would be so happy if I knew my grandchildren would not have to suffer my ills... oooh, I will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that somehow, it will be good news for all of you!!!!!

I so hope Steve gets better. I still feel horrible not being able to help you both.

Lucky Leroy is the greatest rooster I've ever seen before. He still hasn't crowed yet. I'm sure he shall someday but wow. He's really starting to take care of the ladies now making sure they are eating. No hanky panky from him but for that we can wait. Lacey's wattles are just now turning red. She's going in and out of the coop checking out the egg laying, she's not squatting though. Amanda's not even close yet. I expect over a year for her though since her comb isn't doing anything.
Yay Sheryl - you're back on day shift!

I'll be praying for you and your family.

Oh how I so wish! I'm on Graveyard, Days and Swing shifts. My body does not know what's it doing. I have 2 more days of day shift and I have no idea what my days off are next week nor what hours I'm working. It really sucks right now. I'm working overtime almost every single day. But thank you Ron!
Thanks Aubrey!

Leroy loves coming over and saying hi to me everyday!

Lacey decided not to come down from the tree trunk just yet. The ducks in the front is Harmony and Mo!

As you can see, Lacey is really coming of age. It won't be long now before she's laying eggs.

Wynnie had to come over and check out the camera as usual. She's the one who hatched the
ducklings in April. She also went right into a molt afterwards too. She came through her molt
very nicely I think. He sister Sylvia is broody and molting at the same time. The poor girl is really
suffering.
