Nevadans?

I went to check on my broody today, and my frizzled cochin egg is hatching. The shell is half off, but the membrane is still there. At least it has cooled down a bit.

Fingers crossed and prayers and good hatching vibes, please! I'd feel so horrible if this baby didn't make it because of the heat or because I lifted the mama for a second.
Oh my gosh, Missy, that is sooo great! Maybe I will have to come a little early!!!

I wish pics were loading right now. I would love to see pics of frizzled polish. Sarah on the CA thread has adorable frizzled polish.
Gardening segue!

Has anyone seen the website to Seed Savers Exchange? It's amazing! I'd heard about it, but had never been there. After growing so many heirloom varieties this year, I've gotten more interested in the movement to retain seed varieties for future propagation. The Exchange only deals in heirloom varieties. The selection is jaw-dropping!
Seriously?!! You've never been on their site before? Gardening sacrilege!!! Well at least you've seen it now. That's where I first got hooked on heirlooms. Really amazing folks that started it and lots of work goes into keeping it going.. I love the seeds. Just can't afford to get too carried away right now. Used to get a lot of stuff from them but now it is easier to find unique varieties elsewhere. Still, I love the idea of supporting their company. They've worked so hard for so many years to keep heirlooms available. Next year for sure.

I lifted up cochin when I saw this

and now I have a cute lil Bedbug!

hope all turns out well! Cochins are very easily the sweetest breed I have and my Lil Frizz is just the funnyest little tiny thing zipping around the yard and following me everywhere. Shes the one who lets all of our guests pick her up and hold her and she just loves it. weighs all of a few ounces wet. Love them!!!
Awwww. Yes, I agree about cochins! Genny kept trying to tell me but I fought the cochin bug til I got my little blue pullet. Now that I have a little frizzled cochin I want more!!! But until then...

My peachicks are here!!! My peachicks are here!!! heeheehee I am giddy I'm so happy! They are adorable and are already getting their little crests in. They are drinking water like crazy and scarfed a whole banana in nothing flat. They have sampled their gamebird starter and didn't seem to dislike it but it sure didn't get the attention the banana did. So relieved that they got here so fast and are happy and healthy. I always stress when birds are being shipped.

Edited my post above about sexing peachicks. Apparently it is impossible to tell the difference at this early age.

No takers on my silkie roo, yet. He's getting feisty as well. When I put him in the coop this morning, he turned around and pecked me. Probably there are a few more in my group of 5 as well. Now I'm paranoid they are all cockerels! I guess i have to be patient. they keep fooling me. I think when I get rid of the one crowing, maybe another one will start crowing and I'll know for sure.

can't wait until you can post some photos!
My baby didn't make it. And the other two aren't going to hatch. If anyone knows of a brand new baby that my broody can adopt, I will love to have it. She's worked so hard, and deserves a baby.
