Nevadans?

I already did.
She's not well. She's stopped wobbling but can't stand anymore. I wish she would eat solid food :(

ETA I figured out how to make her eat eggs. If I pry her beak open the same way i do when i syringe feed and wedge a chunk of egg in there she will throw it back and swallow the whole chunk. I fed her a good amount of egg now and can actually FINALLY feel her crop

Hey y'all... I need a lift... emotionally.

I've been reading so many posts by different people about all the troubles they're having with one thing or another... losing one pet or another to some mysterious malady or a known malady or even just old age. On top of that I have felt extremely frustrated over the past couple weeks about one thing or another. Can't really put my finger on it but this morning, I lost it when I was fixing my breakfast and the eggs stuck to the pan... a non-stick pan mind you!

So... is there ANYTHING funny, amusing or happy going on in anybody's lives? Please share.

I know some day I will probably look back at this day and laugh but that won't be today.

Sorry you're having a hard time. I get in funks like that a lot. Dopamine and seratonin deficiencies actually run in my family, so we all have to be on the watch for a dip in the moods, or they can get out of hand.

Hmmm funny? I don't know. Other than this brabanter still sounds like some odd jungle bird. No complaints so far. Maybe the neighbors will find it endearing. She is funny to listen to, though.

But happy? Absolutely. My husband had a cardiologist appt. the weekend after Tough Mudder, and won scores for a 25-year-old. (He turns 40 next year, with massive family health conditions.) His cholesterol was 6pts from being optimal. Not good... OPTIMAL! His resting heart rate is 58. His exercise level is scores above what the charts even say it should be. And just this week he's admitted that gluten flares up his rheumatoid arthritis, so he's cutting that out. He didn't want to TOTALLY cut it out, but he said that he would if I did. Gluten really affects my moods (family problem, you know) and he's wanted me to get off the gluten for awhile. So if I do it, he will. Funny how I don't care so much about my health, but if it means he stops hurting, I'll do it. It looks like my husband doesn't get to have another massive heart attack for a long time, and I'm thrilled with that. I'm kind of attached to him.

Lots of teachers are coming up to me and telling me how much they enjoy having my kids in class. This is a big change. HUGE. Normally, I pick up my kids then practically sprint to my car so another person can't stop me and complain about my kids. I know they're special needs kids, and most of the complaints are that... complaints. Requests that I medicate them, etc. Well, the complaints are going way down, and I'm getting so many compliments. Joe is working on getting his grades above Fs (we would like to see Cs) and Sahara is in the gifted/talented program, and excelling in her individual talents.

You know, I couldn't give a care about Christmas and having enough money for that, because I have the best family in the whole wide world, and an amazing group of friends that have really come forward and helped us in the most priceless ways. Maybe everyone can get soap or jam or a pumpkin pie for Christmas, and lots of hugs.

Thank you Missy. That was very nice. I'm amazed at how well your husband is doing. That's just great!

I wanted to let y'all know, we actually did some work on my feed barn today. We got the posts in the ground and the floor done, almost. We have to wait for payday to get some plywood to cover the floor joists with. I should take pictures of this work in progress. That would be fun and I could share it with all you guys.

Ah shoot, Lacy, Im sorry youre having a bummer day! I wish you could borrow Elvis, he is REALLY good at making me feel better when Im down.
Here he is today in his new halloween costume!

I dont really have any good news aside from the usual but the best part is that I dont have any BAD news either! hee! I did get up nice and early and have all four of my tires replaced and got my alignment done which felt AWESOME. Love getting things taken care of when theyve been needing to be done for so long. Also treated myself to the Atlantis breakfast buffet while i waited ;)

oh yeah, and i found THESE bad boys at the halloween store, too!

ahhhh, the little things <3

So what little things have gone RIGHT for you today?!

I LOVE Elvis' costume! Today, we cut down the old cornstalks and bound them together, then gave them to two friends who are having Halloween parties this month. I never thought someone could be so excited about getting our old, dead leftover plants. While we took the sheaves to the second friend, Joe said, "What about Aubrey? She might want some to decorate her house." So sorry... Joe thought of you right after I delivered the last of them. You could have had some awesome old, dead secondhand cornstalks for your house.

How is Mama tonight?

Oh my gosh, joe is so cool!!!! Tell him I said thanks for thinking about me LOL. Guess he could tell we love Halloween around here! Hahaha

She's the same, I think. Still pretty liquidy poo, though we got one kind of solid one today. Shes so tired. She sleeps with her neck stretched out and her face buried in the shavings. Otherwise she just spends her time standing all hunched over. Still won't even give her food and water a second glance. But tomorrow I'm gonna put her outside for an hour or so and see what she does. I'll make her a little pen under the tree. Throw some grains on the ground and see if he pecks at em. She's exceeded my expectations so far!

Cool costume Aubrey! He doesn't mind wearing it?

I'm not really depressed, I've just been frustrated for what feels like an eternity.

What went right for me today? Well, let me start at the beginning... after losing it while trying to fix my eggs for breakfast, my husband gallantly took over and made me breakfast. We got some work done on my feed barn. There used to be an old frame from a trailer on the back of our property that we let some guy cut up and haul all the steel away as long as he left the wood and stacked it neatly for us. Well, there was a floor section just laying out on the ground and I decided I would use that for my feed barn floor. So, it was free..

and we bought some 4x4 posts a few weeks back to raise it up off the ground. Got that done, got holes dug and the floor frame bolted to the posts. Now we'll be adding cement to the holes. I plan to get some sheet metal at my local lumber supply and attach it to the posts so that mice cannot climb up the posts and get into my stored feed.

My son was doting on me today. I guess I look tired and then after this morning, he wanted to be helpful. Tonight he helped me close up the birds. We each usually "do our own" but my portion is pretty big as I have all the meat birds that I have to close up plus all my young stock. So, I have several pens that I take the food and water from every night. I don't like feeding mice!

I have a pile of lumber out back that used to be another trailer. I have a roof just waiting for us to build walls on the floor we put up today. Hopefully I can get all this done before the weather gets nasty.

Monday, my daughter and I will be going to our local garden club meeting. They're doing a carved pumpkin contest (I think its a contest), a display at the least. So, tomorrow afternoon, after we get home from the House of God, I plan to carve a pumpkin. We don't do halloween, so I plan to carve a leafy design of some sort in the side of the pumpkin without going all the way through. It should make a nice, subdued glow of leaves instead of some hideous face.

So, I guess I had a pretty good day. No more explosions.

How is Mama doing?

Sounds like she's cold.

Does she look up when you come close? If so, maybe stir her food or drop a few more little pieces into the dish, maybe it will get her attention. Keep pumping the yogurt. The stuff for worms is a poison, it's just a matter of who will die first... your bird or her worms. Thankfully it was the worms but now you need to get her beneficial bacteria built up again because they were probably all killed along with the worms.

I hope tomorrow is warm.
