Nevadans?

Since I believe and have since I was a little girl there are differences in visits. It probably is your dad. They like electronics and things like lights and music. Enery doesn't go away, but it can transform. I've seen a lot over the years, but actually doubted things even after there were things going on that had no explaination, after Bill died. Even after he played a song out of the blue for my one night. Sonny and Steve know what I'm talking about. Came right when I needed it and was just weird and right on cue. Chances are if the house is sold, your dad will move on where he's needed. They stay with us to watch over us. Maybe there's not much they can do to help, but they're there. Doesn't mean anyone is out to get you or hurt you or even watches you get dressed. LOL Try telling him where your mom is. He may not know and be wondering whats going on. If you want to make sure it's your dad, just ask. Tell him what you want him to do to prove it's him and watch to see if it happens. Nothing to far out there, just a sign. When I had my license and thinking of getting one again, if we heard a house was haunted, it had to be disclosed. Proof or not, it was in there that it had to be mentioned if it happened in the state of California. New York I think is the same and not sure what they rules are in other states. So, if there's no evil, dangerous things going on, just assume they are being done by your dad and that he will move when it's sold. Oh and tell him that the house is being sold, so he doesn't stick around afterwards.

Bill does things here, but not as often as I would like unless I don't notice. But the night I met up with Sunny and Steve and the things that were happening when that song started afterwards, I felt so relived to that he was around. I think all this stuff is cool, but I'm weird like that.
I love this story! You should tell it again since there are new folks here that haven't heard it yet.
Funny that you mentioned the energy. All this happened at his desk in the master suite. And, the next day, there was not a live battery ANYWHERE in the upstairs even though I had just put a new set in my camera for taking inventory and had charged up my phone. Even the TV remote was inert. I think he was having a power suck! (Dad always was one for excesses, but it was usually gin not wattage) And, no, I wasn't scared. It didn't seem malicious....more like a prank. I just found the timing and date of it all kind of odd....3:03 am on the 13th.
Yeah I've heard about the battery drain thing before. I guess it's pretty common. So were 3 or 13 favorite numbers for your Dad?
I love this post. Dia De Los Muertos and other cultures ways of celebrating their dead are amazing. I remember going to my first funeral in high school and being prepared for sorrow and sadness, but ended up with more tears from laughing than being upset. It was all because moreso than mourning, we were celebrating and remembering the fun and happy times this man brought to our lives. Thats why i love dia de los muertos, they have their way of thinking about death right on the mark. Someday I hope people will visit me wherever i may end up buried and laugh about all the stupid things i did in my life, LOL.

Peep, love the story. I have had my fair share of funny things happen in my life so far. I love to hear the more warming stories, i do. But it is the truly terrifying ones that really suck me in too, hahaha.
What I really love about halloween isnt so much about the spooky and the scary (because really, every day of my life is halloween, haha) its mostly the fun times with friends, pumpkin patches, parties where you get to dress up and everyone else around you looks just as silly. I really do love all holidays. I love thanksgiving, christmas, halloween, and duh, my birthday. I just find a certain significance in knowing that we still are a society as long as we, for the most part, are doing all this stuff at the same time. Even if we arent doing it together, or even enjoying it, were getting in the spirit of SOMETHING, even if its just for one day :)
I have to admit I love the community thing too. So tickles me to see the little ones all dressed up in their adorable costumes with Mom and Dad standing close by and beaming when you mention how cute or polite their little ones are. It's just such a special night! Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday but it will be a bit of a bummer again this year because there are no kids that come to our door way out here. I just love handing out candy for the whole night. I'm one of those people that go all out. I always bought the best candy bars and told the kids to take 3 (or more if it was a slow night) and dressed up the whole porch and yard with decorations. Not as much fun when you live out in the boonies.

I think Halloween is my favorite holiday for the same reason. Just plain fun. Without excuses. Be as silly as you want. And I love Dia de los Muertos, and wish we did something more like it. Why is it so taboo in America to think of the dead, to associate our loved ones with the graves they're actually buried in, or even the skeletons that their bodies become after the soul has passed on? So many other cultures don't have this taboo, and I feel it would help us move on more if we didn't shy away from it so much. JMHO

Does anyone need any straw? I just delivered 6 straw bales for a friend who needs them for a Halloween party this weekend, and she says I can have them after she's done. I don't know if it's this weekend or after Halloween, but either way... I don't need 6. They would probably mildew before I used them all up. 2 for me, 4 to give away? Let me know.
I couldn't agree with you more!

No I don't need any straw but if someone needs some hay (grass) I have too many bales to use. They are losing their color on the outside of the bales but are still green inside.

I could take the other two bales. I will be in Carson City or Reno this weekend. Let me know before Saturday, ok? That way I can plan for it and bring a trailer.

Thanks.

Lol mabye EMP burst?

I know a lot of you live in the Reno area but I need to go clothes shopping for my son who is growing like Jack's Beanstalk.  I generally shop at thrift stores so if anyone knows of a good one in Reno or Carson, could you please share?  I'll need its name and address (at least a cross street).

Thanks everybody.

Savers on Oddie blvd, it's huge. And there are three other thrift stores next to it and a Goodwill in the same shopping center

You got it! From what I understand, I'm getting them free. She's a maxofacial surgeon's wife. And I have to give her credit... for having no problem with money, she actually lives pretty low-key. I feel completely comfortable hanging out with her.

We prefer Goodwill, though they do have a smaller selection. But I've noticed that the clothes often tend to be in better condition for the price. I've seen raggedy jeans at Savers for $10 and good jeans at Goodwill for $6. But we shop at both. Goodwill is on Virginia and Neil, across the street from Whole Foods. Just a couple of miles south of the Kietzke Savers, and at a freeway on/offramp. (And I prefer the Kietzke Savers to the Oddie one... they have a more affluent donation pool.) The Kietzke Savers is in the same shopping center as JoAnn Fabrics.

Well, the party she needs them for is on Saturday evening. But I can keep them in my garden covered with a tarp until you're in Reno again.
