Nevadans?

That's too funny! Guys seem to be so squeamish!

One time I had to have my son hold one of my birds while I did something to it... I had to amputate part of a toe on a young cockerel because he had gotten it caught in the wire and broken it. I had it all bandaged and thought it might heal but he kept pulling the bandages off and then the end of his toe died and I had to amputate it. Long story. Anyway, my son was only holding him while I changed the bandage on it about a week or so after I did the deed.

I didn't know a person could stand at the angle he was standing at and not fall down!

LOL!!! I can picture this so well from your description! hahaha I have to admit I am one of those folks that are a bit squeamish about someone else's blood. Human or animal. My own pain and injuries for some reason don't faze me in this way at all but watching someone else bleed or seeing them in a lot of pain is really hard. I almost fainted once when accompanying my ex to the doctor and there was a lot of blood. The nurse turned and looked at me and then yelled at me to sit down and put my head between my knees! lol I didn't even realize I was affected til she yelled at me and explained that she had seen all the color drain from my face and knew I was about to keel over. I felt ridiculous! It wasn't even that big a deal!!!

Sunny, that's quite a day! I'm sorry nobody was home but I'm really glad your Dad showed up!

Maybe just find a hiding place outside to keep a house key rather than carry all your keys and phone too? I'm thinkin' that would get really old in a hurry, for me anyway.
Yeah DH and I have decided to go get one of those real estate locks to put an extra key into. Now if I can just remember the code I'll be fine.

This will be very helpful for Steve too since he loses his keys every few months and having an extra secure key around will give him peace of mind. Once he locked himself in the coop (long story) but luckily had his phone on him so he could call me to come and let him out.
Lacy that's funny! Boys are so weird. Us girls are tough as nails I tell ya! Mark is still looking pretty pale too, hahaha. Tell ya what, I'm a leg up when I start vet tech school next year!
Sunny there is no way what I did was as crummy as what you had to deal with today. It was honestly not bad and there wasn't even really any blood. It was just putrid and smelled SO BAD haha. I was worried about mama briefly because she was breathing very raspy and had her eyes closed. I ha a full on doctor mode. "we may lose the patient! Do not panic, push through it!". But I think she just went into shock. I didn't really have time to be upset afterward because she really looks totally one with it. In fact a few minutes after she let out this giant disgusting smelly burp and made me laugh quite a bit!

You are gonna be the most spectacular Vet ever!!! I'll bring all my critters to you for sure!
Wow, you two have had very exciting days! I wouldn't want to live either of those for you. Aubrey, you're my idol! (Sunny, you were already my idol. But how frustrating! I would have cried long before you did.)
Well thank you for that.

I felt pretty silly feeling so sorry for myself. I mean it wasn't like I was in a life threatening situation or anything like that.

I just want to share picture of my carved pumpkin this year. It's the first time I've actually done this, even though I've wanted to for years. Maybe next time, it will be a little fancier.

Hmmm, looks like the leaf on the left is a bit thick. I'll have to thin it some so it looks nice.
I love it! That is a fantastic first try! Boy my first pumpkins never looked that good.

Beautiful! I've never been great at carving pumpkins. But then, I guess I've never really practiced it.

My day wasn't anything like Aubrey's and Sunny's, but it was fun.
This morning, I got a silkie pullet from Elizabeth. She spent all morning being called My New Fuzzie. Our friend Mark recommended the name Schnitzel for her. She took no time at all fitting in with the group. She figured out who the meanies were and stayed from them, and was eating cracked corn right beside the ducks. I love her attitude! Whenever I go out there, she comes right up to me. I love her so much!
One of my clients paid me in cash today, so we made the not-so-smart decision of buying dinner for the family instead of paying another bill. We went to 168 Asian Restaurant (behind El Pollo Loco) and had hot pot. Everyone loved it.
And then I got a Facebook message from one of my friends, who is also Joe's math teacher. Yesterday I got a HUGE double yolker, and posted a picture on Facebook. She was so impressed that I wrapped it in bubble wrap, put it in a styrofoam container, and had Joe leave it on her desk this morning. She was thrilled. After awhile of looking at eggs, I guess I take it for granted a little... something as simple as a double yolker left on a teacher's desk made her day!

The egg in question: (The one to the right is a large size, probably from an australorp.) I think Original is laying these... they're her color. If it isn't her, then some little pullet has some super egglaying powers.

Thanks missy! That means a lot coming from the woman who can do EVERYTHING!

Lacy I love the pumpkin. Autumn theme is so pretty, I wish fall lasted longer here :( I'd love to see more call themed decor around town

Wow Aubrey! So proud of you for going for it. I think you're supposed to wait to feed them. Another poster on the N California thread did the same surgery and she said to leave the crop empty for awhile after the surgery.

Sunny, I don't know how you could have possibly walked that far in your condition! I'm so sorry.

LOL i bought a bike there for $50 and sold it for $400!

The best deals I've found at Savers... One day I walked in on Dollar Day, and someone had recently dropped off about 6 pairs of size 10 boots. They were each $1. The miracle of it all wasn't the price... it was that there was a size 10 woman in Reno who had found all these cute boots and hadn't run them into the ground! Most nicer clothing stores (including JCPenney) only carry up to 9.5.

Oh, and once I found a pair of Lucky Brand jeans, which make my posterior look amazing... and cost $125 a pair. These were $10. Not in the best shape, but still worth it. I patched those up 5 times before I had to give up and throw them away.
