That being said, when I bartended, I had a rule. No talking of religion or politics! WHY? I had to break up more fights over the 2 than I did when I had 9er and Raider fans together. BTW, I bartended for a Mormon lady.If something is not supposed to be talked about, so be it. So do we talk about them or not?![]()
Ghost don't keep track!Mabye we could make a rule saying that ghost stories are ok for october and only october??? everyone satisfied?
Oh Man!!! That sounds horrible! I wish I'd gotten this post before I posted. The overlap leads to some very inappropriate words being posted at times! My goodnight post looked like I was ignoring your post. I just hadn't seen it yet.Yeah when I walked into the ER I could hear him screaming at the top of his lungs. It was awful. The surgeon said the pain was like four times worse than giving birth (I have no frame of reference!) since the pelvis expanded four times the size it does when a woman is passing a baby through.
The surgeon also said that in his ten years of work he has only ever seen one other person survive this injury. My dads a lucky man.
Awwww. You are such a Sweetie Missy. I'm afraid, for me, the point is not whether any one of us is right or wrong but whether we have the right to censor other's conversations. And... LOL on the boots and reptile show comment! Seriously made me laugh out loud!!!Re: stories and beliefs...
As I shared my beliefs on the subject with another member via PM, I noted how much my belief in ghosts really did circle around my religious beliefs. And as I detailed why I had those beliefs, I did notice that many of the specific details did follow beliefs particular to my religion. I know that some people hold ghosts as taboo, while some don't see it as a bad thing.
I support both Lacy Blues and Sunny in this, and everyone else who has added to the conversation. I can see both sides of it.
But then, that's why I LOVE you guys sooooo very much! When I first joined, I really refrained from even mentioning hints about what religion I follow. Those of you who know me a little better know that I attend a church that isn't always popular with the public view. But it doesn't matter here, and I'm so very thankful that it doesn't.
I've been on this thread for almost a year, and I've never seen a conflict that hasn't been resolved. I've never met anyone on here that I've really had problems with, or even bad feelings about. You're all great, and we make it work. I love all of you.

Ok, that's my feel-good smooshy sentiment for the day. To combat that, I'm going to put on a big pair of boots and some cargo pants, and then go take my husband to the reptile show.
What time is the exhibit again? We probably won't make it, since we need to rush the roof on the coop. I hear the weather is going to be nasty next week, and I want those shingles up before the plywood gets wet.
OK I'm not sure if that discussion has been put to a stop, so I'm going to answer the question that was asked.
Sunny, we use smudge and burning of sage of everything. LOL It's used before and after prayer, to chase away evil, to invite good energy. I was always very good about doing my burnings and maybe my life sucks now, because I've only done it a couple of times since Bill died. I've felt very defeated losing him. The great thing about having him around was, he enjoyed learning and participating in my culture. He loved learning about other cultures even before we met and that started when he was in Vietnam. He lived among the people and learned from them. He had smudge sticks when I met him and tried to teach me about them. I just kind of smiled and said "now you want me to teach you how WE do it?" His sage and vessel are still right where he left them on our dresser. I haven't touched them. That takes will power for me. Modesto is sooooooo dusty! LOL
And we have a new addition to the family that I was none too pleased with, but majority (ahem) rules, so we now have an about 7 week old kitten. I hate cats! Evil little things. This one has the nerve to think I like it or something. Always has to have a paw on me. Icky!
OK I quoted this to explain Kim's tough talk and squishy heart thing but I see you've got her figured out now.aw Kim I adore cats. I get suspicious of people when they say they hate catsMine are just absolutely the sweetest animals i have ever met in my life. They surpass the dog by MILES in love and affection. They take good care of themselves and keep the darned mice out. And theyre really good at cuddling. I feel like most people base their cat hating experience on dealing with a few mean ones, or carefree ones but people dont do that with dogs and Ive met plenty of nasty dogs too. Still love em all. Heck it was a MILLION times easier for me to teach the cats not to ruin the furniture than the dogs! haha, back when Elvis and Bogie were younger they literally tore entirely through three couches! aww Im a sap for kitties, i really am! That kitten will steal your heart in no time![]()

OK I know the thing is cute but if your allergies are acting up that can have some serious repercussions to your health. I am taking shots right now for my cat and horse allergies and have learned a lot from the clinic about allergies. It goes a lot deeper than just an itchy nose and scratchy throat. I know you want to help the kitty but you also need to take care of yourself!COOL! I'll send him/her to you! I'm so blind, I think it's a male, but I could be wrong. I know the one that tore me up was a female, but this one.......OK he has colorings in that area, that throw me off. LOL I'm pretty sure it's a male though.
I want to name him Terror, but Makayla thinks that that means Tear as in tear up things. I'm trying to exlain. I figure with a name like that, he'll be the opposite. Like my neighbor's Beagle. She's got this sweet face and her name is Lady, but she will kill anything, so my neighbor said, she should have named her Killer. She got a few of my birds in the beginning when they'd fly over into their yard. Nothing I can complain about if they are on their side.
Hahahahahaha!!! I heartily agree! Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your view) I don't have problems with discussing any of the above topics in public.Mom's mom had Mom when she was 40 and Mom had me when she was 30, which means my mother was raised and taught by a Victorian. Unfortunately, my mother never quite embraced modern mores and, ergo, I was raised with some pretty interesting standards. And most etiquette lessons were bordered with "In the FFP....." (Founding Families of Piedmont)
In our family household we NEVER talked about sex, religion or politics even amongst ourselves. (Indeed, sad little child I who was yanked out of grammar school for a week every year when it was "Science, Sex and Your Body" time...I don't think the information I got on the subject matter at Camp Augusta summer camp was entirely accurate). Needless to say, at family holiday get-togethers we discussed A LOT of weather...but also got into the intricacies of everybody's what they were doing, which I found far more fascinating than the regurgitation of some pundit's political views.
re: Ghost stories.... If not now, when? I mean, after all, it is October..... Boo! It seems rather apropos and seasonal, IMHO. (besides being doggone interesting)
I just LOVE this story!!! We could feel him around you that evening soooo strongly! What an amazing experience and what a testament to the love you 2 share! So cool!OK I can't find it, but here goes.
I went to the cemetery before meeting up with Sunny and Steve. This was shortly after Bill had died and I hadn't taken a trip like that alone since I met him. They drove down to meet me with a rooster. We met at Red Lobster and talked and Steve told me a couple of times that Bill was right there with me. I so wanted to believe that, but I'd doubted everything I believed in at the time. So after we parted I go to buy gas (just in case), because even with a GPS I was horribly late to meet them and lost! Took literally hours! Every hoodlum in town was there too. All of them were staring at my car and talking and watching. I never used to have problems with that, but I've had issues with going places and being in public for a while, so I was already overwhelmed that night. It was like 11pm. So I whisper "Bill I need you. See how I need you?" I was really in panic mode and hoping I wasn't going to break down and cry right there. Talk about being a pigeon! The station had a radio playing over the speakers. All of a sudden the song stopped, didn't end, just stopped and "Don't Mess With Bill" started playing. I always loved that song since it first came out and once I met Bill it reminded me of him. Mainly because people who knew him, knew you never messed with him. I pumped the gas and got in my car. Sat there and listened to the rest of the song. It was funny because as soon as that song started I felt so relaxed and like he was right there. I even smiled! I looked around and even though it was the same group of guys, they all smiled and nodded at my car. I even smiled back like "yeah I know" LOL I waited till the song was over and drove off. OH and I got lost following that stupid GPS and it took me over 5 hours to get home when it usually only takes 2 1/2.
OK this wasn't so bad.
This is just one thing. I get signs through music that I know are him and even one from him and my dad once. He moves things. I heard his voice in front of me the first night after he died while I was trying to sleep and was looking for him to visit in my dreams. Instead I started to wake up and was still trying to dream so I could see him. I heard "Honey, you're going to love it up here." Right in front of me and I opened my eyes to see him, but he wasn't there, but it wasn't in my dream, it was him waking me up. I saw him one night when I was here alone and exhausted and told him good night and I was really sleepy. I can fall asleep before my head hits the pillow if I make myself tired enough. I was just starting to close my eyes and I could see his face coming closer and he turned his cap and was smiling. My eyes shot open and I kept telling him I saw him, so he might as well show himself. I didn't sleep the whole night, just waiting. Butt head didn't show, but I wasn't tired any longer either. Sooooo many other things. Like my grand baby pointing at the hall at my daughter's house, smiling and giggling and saying gampa. He'd play hide and seek with here from the hall when she'd be sitting in her high chair. My youngest daughter saw him twice and it scared the heck out of her. I saw his face on the ceiling right after he died. He was surrounded by other faces and he looked much younger. I found his photo album of his friends that died in Vietnam and all those faces were in it. Only Bill and one other guy came back that time. The other one commit ed suicide. His face was up there, but to the left of Bill. I told his counselor at the VA center about it and he was so excited. Just lots of things that can't be explained or are too much to be coincidences.
No they don't and I don't either.Ghost don't keep track!![]()
How the heck did that happen? Well, actually, I can probably figure that one out on my own.Dang, i missed the poultry exhibit!
We had 2 tortoises for many years. They loved my roses and I used to pluck them from the bush for them to munch on when they were outside with me.Holy cow, I was off for 9 hours. That seems like a lot, but the sun isn't even down. Talkative!
We missed the poultry exhibit too, but I bought my husband's early Christmas present. He's resting now, after chomping down on a cherry tomato. I don't know if it's a he or a she, but we need more of a male presence here. I have friends who identify as female when they were born otherwise, and they're called she... so Hugo Chavez can be a he or just identify as a he. I have no idea where to look and am not sure I want to even try.
Hugo Chavez is a 6-wk-old redfoot tortoise. I'll post pictures after I get back from a friend's Halloween party.
And my coop is finally getting its roof! It was just as expensive to get 2 sheets of corrugated fiberglass as it was for shingles, so we just bought two of those and some roofing nails. I'll get the light up later, but now it can rain and snow all it wants. Finally it's done! I got the rest of the coop finished in March, I think. Or May. Something like that. The roof is finally on, and it took 15 minutes.
