I use an all flock pellet from Southern States, but have used Purina Flock Raiser that you can find at TSC. The biggest problem I had with that is I can only get it in crumbles, so there did seem to be more waste than with pellets. Thanks for all those who helped me in this thread. It is greatly appreciated. Today I fed the chickens 10 cups of food in the morning (in bowls: we should be going to the store and buying a few feeders and grit stations soon). By 11:00am when I went to check, they had been eating for about 4-5 hours (I fed them at 6:30am). And there was about 4-5 cups left! I am so grateful for all of you! we have found a solution. So thanks!
Another questions for those who feed all-flock:
What type of feed do you buy for all-flock...is it basically grower feed?
What brand?
Haven't tried the Naturewise all flock pellet, but seems like that would be suitable - look at the protein % when comparing feeds, some "grower" feed can be quite low on protein. I like to aim for 18-20% if possible.
I'm glad that things are going better! Just keep working at it, you will get this all straightened out
