New Alaskan breeders coop - finally!!! (pics)

Wow, I'm going on vacation in June. Wanted to go to the Florida Keys, but............. Alaska. Hmmmmm. Hard call. Beach, Mountains, Sand, Snow, Coral Reefs, Deep Oceans. Oh, how could you do this to me???? Well, I guess since plane tickets are so much, I might have to stay here in Florida for now. Darn. Maybe next years Vaca. Yeah, that's good! I like it!!!

Thanks all... it's been a lot of work, but well worth it. It's shaping up to be a gorgeous day, so I'll be out there working on it!

I'm excited for your new business, too! I found out that I might be losing my job soon, as the store is closing, and I'm thinking about new ways to bring in an income that DON'T rely on someone else's business sense!

So... you've inspired me... can't wait to hear how it goes!

Oh Pattycake! When it's your passion, it's a labor of love, not "work".

I love doing this!! I'm sorry to hear about your job... but there's that saying about when a door closes yada yada... maybe this is your open window!!

Thank you... I'm excited too!

Well, I FINALLY got to work on the coop some more today. We hit the 58°F mark today...

But my nose was glued to the incubator lid all day watching baby Button Quail hatch, that I didn't get much done til this afternoon. We're using flitching (2nd cut lumber that is rough and still has bark on it) for the siding. Then 2" insulation board between that and plywood on the inside. I thought maybe OSB, but if it gets wet (which is a distinct possibility here!) it's hosed, so we're going with the more expensive plywood.

Here's the update shot...

I'm liking the way it's looking... it will blend nicely into the trees.
