New Alaskan breeders coop - finally!!! (pics)

We made lots of progress on Thursday. We finally got all but one pen framed in on the inside. Just need to run the wire between them, build the dropping pits and nest boxes, and then the outside runs and connect the water pipes.
My FIL quickly found our wiring error and fixed it so I have lights and plugs now!

The brooder room needs one more wall finished, then mudded, and I can move my chicks and quail in there... sooooo close now!

I cleaned the "Silkie Corner" the other day... so easy! Just a dustpan to scoop the litter, disinfect, put new litter down, DONE! LOL! I wish I had scraps of vinyl left over so I could put some in the layer's coop!

Well, house projects have taken over today... total septic system replacement in the backyard... yuck. I'd better get out there and help.

LOL! We sure have some spoiled birds, eh?

I'm covered in mud, paint, feathers and blood... got the new brooder/quail room textured and painted today, then hubby came home and we harvested our very large rooster and one turkey. They're soaking in a brine for smoking on Monday...

I don't have any new photos yet... I'll see if I can get some after I pick up a bit.

I'll be cleaning up the tools and taking photos very soon... just need to finish the ceiling inside, but I need to wait until hubby gets home.

FIL and I hardwired the coop for light/heat today, and it works like a charm. Just in time to set up a heat lamp for my new babies from MMH today... including 6 silver grey dorkings!

I need to post a picture of the mystery packing peanut... I wonder what he is.

I'm thinking a golden laced wyandotte, of all things!

Oh, and the watering system needs finishing too... that will be a major blessing. I'm so tired of changing water 5 times a day... or more. Why do chickens insist on putting shavings in their water!?!?

One 4x4' pen has been turned into a quail pen. 3 are being used as brooders... new chicks in one, 5 week old meat birds in another, and a broody silkie with 3 chicks in a third one. On the other side, there are Silkies in one pen, Mille Fleurs in the next, and Light Brahmas in the last one that has an extra large outside pen because of the brooder room. I'm thinking of splitting one of the pens about 4' off the ground for another breed of quail or for broodies.

Finally got the auto-waterer set up!!! No more changing out 8-9 waterers every day!!!

We'll see... it's the cup-waterers. We dipped beaks, and they seem to have figured it out already. The Silkies went wild over it!
