New babies, help bonding

I made this for my ducklings after their first week with chick waterer . Any plastic container with a lid will do just has to start off short.

Did I completely ruin my chances with them? Is there anything I can do? I tried treats but they just run and hide.
Welcome to BYC! You didn't ruin anything and I bet they will warm up to you very soon. :hugs

Awesome, thank you so much! As you can see from the picture, their water dish is on the opposite end of their brooder and it's a dog kennel so they don't have an open top. If I offer them treats from the entrance, will they know to bring the food to the water? Should I just keep a dish of water at the front while I'm giving them treats?
It's whatever would make you most comfortable! If they seem to be too shy to go get water, then it might be a good idea to move it closer during that time.
I'm sure they would go to the water on their own though.

:goodpost:This post was so informative and friendly in comparison to the first (pretty rude) person. I don't even have ducks but I really appreciate users who are willing to help others kindly. I'm also new and have already been made to feel a bit stupid by users with lots of badges and thousands of comments. @WolfGirlMagic thank you for making BYC welcoming for newcomers :)

EDIT: and to all the others who have since commented on this thread with all your lovely advice
I try to be welcoming and helpful! I've had my share of rude comments on here, as well. It can be very disheartening. Especially when you are posting in a desperate/emergency situation.
Too bad...
People need to be more kind to each other.

I'm loving all the feedback and definitely appreciate people giving me a positive outlook. I was already feeling pretty down on myself so the negativity was not helping. I think to rebuild the trust, I'm going to move a little slower with these babies. Once they're back to wanting to be at the front of the brooder near me, I'll see about getting some cuddles in. And TREATS. I never realized that ducks are such food hounds until I started doing some research.
Awwwww, don't be down on yourself! I think you are doing great!
Ducks LOVE food. Pair yourself with food and before you know it, those peepers will be following you around everywhere!
Good luck with the babies!

The advantage to using one of these containers is that they come in different depths, so you can just swap the lid onto a taller container as they grow. You may have to widen the holes a bit, but it should work well for at least the next several weeks.

My friend came here and his girlfriend who thinks she can vent sex grabbed my Ducklings and had them all crying and scared. I definitely also had to wait till they calmed down and they are all happy again around me.
Treats and kindness goes a long way with all animals.
