new baby geese

The other thing I have been wondering about is the fire ants has anyone had a problem with them? I have poison but what about them eating the grass where you spay, and if I can't spay the poison what do I use we have a lot of them around here.
I would not spray poison around my flock, have you tried googling to see if there are natural ways to kill fire ants?.

I don't have any around them right now just was wondering in case they come around for the water, so I could be ready. Will have my husband look that up for me, but I don't think there is anything that is non poisonus.

What about pouring ACV down into the nests?

acv doesnt kill

nothing "safe" or all natural kills these nasty biting demons, including boiling water, or setting the mound on fire or DE powder

Donna............. get small opening fencing and make circle out of it. get the granular type fireany poison and sprinkle onto the mound. Place fence so none of your animals can get to it. 7-10 days later you should be ant free in that spot and the granulars wash away.

OK thanks, yes in that spot they move around everywhere!!! Do they or will they bite the baby geese or will they eat them. I have some really small little ants and Ms Lily did eat one.

before i run up to the shower, Hope posted the hatch dates already. I list them in ranges since each group never hatch all at once.Glad the storm left no damage, enjoy the day and the babies both, The Dewlaps are my husbands fav geese and I doubt he will ever be without them as they are just too sweet and calm, and traffic stoppers too when wondering the front
Ok but you said the little boy was a week older than the little girl so was she like 2 or 3 days old when they were sent to me and he would have been 9 or 10 days old then ? Mr Gus is a lot bigger than Ms Lily but I guess they will catch up with each other as they get older. I can't believe how fast they are growing it just amazes me. I take them for walks everyday and they just are a pleasure to have, they make me smile alot. Today I bought them a pool because the little one I had they were out growing it, so now they can swim. I guess when they get full grown I might have to think about somthing bigger. I bought one of the med. kiddie pools at walmart is that what you use or the biggest one?

I love the pics. How cute are they. We are going to put in a little peanut water feature with a water fall in the back garden area for them to swim in. won't be too big but big enough to float around in when they are full grown. LoL It will provide nice fresh water too. Thanks for all the ideas. Its funny to see that your little guy stays close to you. Ours is the same way. Olive is much more adventurous than Brutus. We are babysitting our neighbors dog and they were pecking on her yesterday in the sun is was so cute.
Well off to build a water play area.

How are your little Olive and Brutus doing? I hope when you get your water feature done you post pictures, would really love to see it. I went and bought a pool at walmart for Mr Gus and Ms Lily and the little stinkers wont get in unless I'm there with them, I'm sure when it gets hot they will change there mind though. Poor Mr Gus was so hot today he had his little mouth open to cool off but he wouldn't stay in the water unless I was standing right there. Reminds me of my son when he was little he had to hold my hand to fall asleep. Well hope you are enjoying your babies as much as I am.

Quote: yes they will bite the geese, they are a royal pain really to deal with when you have geese in the same space

we use the kiddie pools that are medium sized (not those jumbos too hard to dump and not break the sides down) we also have 1 peanut shaped black pool set in the ground with an attached drain line from the bottom and adding a second to the same space for the dewlaps. They LOVE the ponds set into the ground.
