new baby geese

Okay, I just was looking around here and can you tell me what the heck it means that I just hatched and what my ovation is??LOL How do I grow??
Where did you find that?
Hope, do you pick them up and put them in the water? that is what I had to do at first and still do Ms Lily she hasn't tried to go up the boards yet but Gus will. After I put them in the water I had to kinda hold them a min till they calmed down, not like hold them down but kinda guide them away from the side. Gus just almost run once I got out there by him it was hot again today poor little things. They might be afraid because we have a lot of crows and planes that fly over and you can watch them look in the sky, and if there is somthing there they will get over close to me.
Your babies are so cut they look just like mine except my gander is bigger than my goose. Are yours getting feathers yet?

lol out of the brooder and just hatched are funny labels under your user name. They change the more you are here and the more you post. Ovations are kinda like way-to-go or thumbs up people give to you over posts you write or things they like/agree with ect.

Ok They FINALLY did it!!!!

Climbed in all by themselves. We put them in the bigger pool the other day and they stayed in it for a while and loved it but have been unable to get them in this pool. But not anymore..... They swam in circles under water and cracked me up. They are getting so BIG. Olive has feathers on her back now. Good sized ones too. She is still a lot bigger than Brutus but I figure he will pass her up eventually.

Thats good glad they finally made the plung, mine still won't stay in the pool without me standing there. When I go out they jump right in, its like they are waiting for me to get out there. Gus started getting his feathers first and now Ms Lily is getting hers. They are growing so fast it is amazing!!

Folks need your help. We have female toulousse and she has been laying eggs. We took them after her sitting on them for two weeks. No gander so great for baking. Away have been looking for mate with no luck. Finally the local feed store had baby goslings, but they are Chinese. My wife and two granddaughters kept bugging me to get them. I said we want a mate for Roger (named before we knew). They just wanted Roger to have friends so we picked up four, two males and two females. When we brought them home Roger could hear them and came to look. We put them in a wire cage and let Roger look in. She seemed interested until one move close. Then she tried to bite it ( I think) they have been in the same big coop for three days now with her (they are in wire cage inside coop with light on them) She stays near the cage and just watches them. If we move her out the babies go crazy. Then she comes back and they are quite. We tried letting them out on the grass and they were fine. When Roger came out they saw her a started running to her. She took off like they were trying to kill her. She ran and wouldn't come back. She is RIGHT next them in their cage but won't have anything to do with them when they are out. Hopefully she will come around right? My wife and girls are worried they won't and Roger will still be alone.

You have done the right thing by keeping them separate but still in view of each other, It will take time but Roger will come around, if she has been alone for long enough to have laid eggs and sit on them, well this is all new and she most likely doesn't know what these lil things are that want her as their mommie Just keep on the way you are doing even when you put the lil ones outside keep them separate from Roger till you see her calm then try letting them all be together. When letting them all be together outside try a special treat, something Roger really likes but that the babies can eat too, mine love dried mealworms and also chopped up grapes. This way their focus is more on the treat than each other,. Good luck.

Terry, they may be friends but Toulouse are very shy so to speak geese. They are easily bullied. Feed them seperately!!!! Keep trying to find her a mate. Or at least another female friend. Hope this helps. Maybe Shellie from celtic farms can give you more advice.

We have baby toulouse and grown chinese. Two of our adults dont like our babies so we just keep them seperated. We are slowly introducing them but its gonna take until they are full grown I think. Would love to see pics. Keep us updated. ;-)

Thanks for the advice. Thats what I was thinking slow and easy. Roger will climb on my wife and not let everyone near her. She runs all the peacocks off and my pitbull won't come out to the barn when she is out, but these 4 little yellow things are freaking her out. We will be looking around Colorado for a gander for her. I will be taking pictures and posting them soon.
