new baby geese

before i run up to the shower, Hope posted the hatch dates already. I list them in ranges since each group never hatch all at once.Glad the storm left no damage, enjoy the day and the babies both, The Dewlaps are my husbands fav geese and I doubt he will ever be without them as they are just too sweet and calm, and traffic stoppers too when wondering the front

Ok but you said the little boy was a week older than the little girl so was she like 2 or 3 days old when they were sent to me and he would have been 9 or 10 days old then ? Mr Gus is a lot bigger than Ms Lily but I guess they will catch up with each other as they get older. I can't believe how fast they are growing it just amazes me. I take them for walks everyday and they just are a pleasure to have, they make me smile alot. Today I bought them a pool because the little one I had they were out growing it, so now they can swim. I guess when they get full grown I might have to think about somthing bigger. I bought one of the med. kiddie pools at walmart is that what you use or the biggest one?

Well when I set the pool up they wouldn't stay in without me standing there with my hand in the water and I didn't have my camera. Will try and get new pictures today they are getting so big!! My big babies are getting so big that I had to put them out in there house last night. No worries went out this morning and they were all warm and fine, even though I was worried. Weather was suppose to get down to 68 last night but they were warm this A.M. so worried for nothing. I set there pool up out in the garden so I could use the water in the garden when I drain it. I have a fence around the garden so I put them out there in the day and put a old tarp up for shade so they have a lot of grass to eat. I don't have a cover on the garden so I kinda worry about hawks but I have seen pictures of other peoples geese not covered is this the norm? The Guinea's hens warn everyone and my Dog watches plus they are close to the house so I can keep an eye on them. Gee's who new that I would worry about as bad as when my kids were little!!!

So normal, yes keep a close eye on them when as lil as they are, hawks, and other preds are always just waiting for an easy meal. Good you have guineas they are good to warn of danger ,how do your gosling react to them when they sound one?

We haven't lost anything but silkie chickens and young chickens, say under 3 months old to hawks. We have a fair amount of hawks around here. They seem to focus on the wild pigeons. Thank goodness. Hopefully yours will be safe.

So normal, yes keep a close eye on them when as lil as they are, hawks, and other preds are always just waiting for an easy meal. Good you have guineas they are good to warn of danger ,how do your gosling react to them when they sound one?

They stand to alert and if I'm with them they will run over to me so they understand that there is a warning. I have lost a couple of chickens to coyotes and one to a puppy that showed up here, and it was one of my favorite ones to, I was so mad!! Once a hawk tried to get one of the chickens but she got away it tore here skin on her back but she survived thank god. Now that we have the guineas they warn everybody so haven't had any problems lately. Yesterday there was a hawk out there and the guineas started squawking and he left so that was good. I had a wild turkey that came on the property and the guineas chased him away so they are good watch dogs. Our dog is good at watching also but the guineas warn before she gets out there. Our dog can tell when somthing is wrong and she will go out there and go after what ever it is.

The other thing I have been wondering about is the fire ants has anyone had a problem with them? I have poison but what about them eating the grass where you spay, and if I can't spay the poison what do I use we have a lot of them around here.
