New bantam, unknown breed....help us guess!

I love feathered footed bantams, but Cochins are my favorite. I live in Georgia and d'Uccles have always faired well, but they are not as docile and love able as Cochins, in my opinion.

Thanks for the sources. I just read both. Neither mentioned winter.

We live in Michigan and our birds do not have electricity, so they would have to be hardy. We have ducks and a dutch bantam. With this chick we also bought a barred rock. Other than shelter, they would have to be able to survive our winters. I hope the store would not sell breeds which cannot thrive here. If anyone knows please share.

Thanks everyone.

I have another question. My daughter's fair breed list says D'Uccle Favorelles. Is that the same as the millie fleur D'Uccle?

Thanks again!

Okay, maybe they forgot a comma. :)

One more question, does their breed have any methods for identifying genders?

Thank again!

I have a couple mille fleur d'uccles right now that are 3-4 weeks old, And mine looked just like yours not that long ago. So I agree that you have one :)

As far as sexing goes it is easier to tell at about three weeks. In cockerels the comb will get noticeably larger and more red whereas the pullets will stay relatively small and yellow. Also, my pullet feathered faster than the boys :)

Here are two boys:

And a girlie:

Both to compare:

And another just because they are so darn cute! They are the sweetest, snuggles up to my hands and fall asleep :)
