I heard a lot of peeping last night but couldn't figure out which one was crying. When I got up this am she was gone. I didn't tell my daughter because it was her favorite that died. Plus we had to freeze a deformed one the day before and she was still upset from that.
That is what I am wondering if I should do with my sick one. Ughhh--I hate doing it especially when it is chirping away as I close up the bag. So hard!

Wouldn't freezing be slow and painful? I've wondered what I would do if I had to cull one. A friend told me she puts them in a baggie and holds it to the exhaust pipe of her car. She feels that with carbon monoxide it goes to sleep before it dies. I am just dreading the day I have to cull.

I don't know if it is slow or not. I was hoping it would numb them up and they wouldn't know--be so cold they would sleep and then die. I don't know. I do know though that my handicapped baby is doing better today! Yay!!!

Kind of a depressing topic...lets share about our new healthy chicks! They are so cute! And tomorrow I start silkies, polish crested, Buckeye's and so Buff Brama's YAY!

Hope i never have to do this but i have killed mice a couple times that have been in my house like fell into something a trash can etc... I use a coffee can just put the lid on and eventually they just run out of air and go to sleep and die.
Not super quick but not painful either
Dont know if i could stand the chirping until then. I put the mouse can way out in my yard for a few days...ugh well yeah .....change the subject....

A Buff Brahma! Love it! That's one of the first ones I'm going to get if/when my hubby gives me the green light for chickens. I, unfortunately, wasn't able to keep any of this last hatch. It was literally heart breaking! Good news is my friend is going to keep all of the hens, so we can visit them.
