new batch..join me!

I have had all kinds of crazy events go on while hatching, you just literally never know, it could be your bator or your eggs or the shipping or all of the above, you just never know. I leave mine to day 25 and then will throw them out.

Yiannisk--define long time. Does 12 hours equal long time? It was down at 93 for a few hours and then up to 97 for a few hours and then finally up to 99. It might have been less than 12 hours actually. Maybe more like 6 hours.

Peeps4me--i will be up with you. I was up last night checking on them at 4:30.

me again ... si discouraged. The pip has not changed--no movement at all. No little beak or anything. Nothing else going on either. My hatch day is almost over and nothing. ughh!

I had one that was pipped for almost 24 hours before hatching. Don't give up hope. ;)

My hatch is going well so far. I've got 22 of the 42 hatched with quite a few others pipped. There are a few eggs that I don't see any pips, so it will be interesting to see what happens with those guys.

See I told you i would happen...they were just slow! Congrats!

When I finally went to bed, I had 4 pips. An hour later I heard peeping and my first little banty had hatched. Two more chicks hatched during the night as I watched. How hard they have to work to get out of that shell! This morning one more has just hatched. I only went into lock down on Sunday afternoon so these guys are pretty early. I have one more bantam egg but no pip in it. The other eggs are BRs and Marans. There has been one pip on a BR rock since last night but no sign of change this morning. I don't know how long I can leave the chicks in the bator while waiting for activity out of the other eggs. Hard to be patient when I want to cuddle my new chicks.

I have 3 myself this morning and I am having the same dilemma, when to take them out. I have two pips that I think are bad. I also have two pips that I think are good--sooo for now as long as I have some viable pips I will keep the bator closed. I don't want to risk harm and I know they can wait 24-48 hours before I pull them out. It is sooo hard to be patient though!! Oh and I saw one of mine hatch this morning too--on my phone! I set up a video camera on the bator and then skyped to my phone. I left skype on all night and checked in with the chicks. I hardly slept but it was worth it when I saw one hatch this morning!! Yay!! Here is a pic of my 2 newest babies!!

How cool - never thought about setting up the camera and using Skype. Very clever!
