New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Yea didn’t think about Cochin either, but in speckledhens defense the people I got him from do sex links from rhode island red and whites so she could be right too. Well just have to let him grow out and see.

One reason I like cochins so much is they come in every color under the chicken rainbow. :)

I miss little Xander, my Munchkin Dictator, so much! I was amazed at how he ruled those big hens and kept all the young cockerels bullied. I seriously one day want another bantam Cochin rooster or two, and hatchery stock is fine, just like he was.

Yes, time will tell if he's a cross or really a Cochin. The body shape should be one thing that tells the tale at a certain point.

My friend who bought the last four chicksters from me sent a picture of one of her Barred Rock x Partridge Brahma roosters. I was told I could use my BRs and Brahmas to create Crele Brahmas and here is the proof.

That's a gorgeous looking bird. :)

He is! He reminds me of the males that came out of Suede and my Buff Brahma, Caroline. Very, very similar...the Brahma is strong in those crosses! Of course, pea comb is dominant. I called them the draft horse chicks.

Guess what I'm doing? I caved! 24 (oops, make that 25, thanks Bailey for the late offering) Blue Partridge/Partridge Brahma eggs going in tonight! Hatch due date June 6. I would have left out my Dark Brahma hen, BJ's eggs because they have never developed with Bash as the sire, but I don't know for a fact which are hers so there are a certain amount that will not be fertile, I am positive. However, 25 should make for a decent number of Brahma babies, barring complications. I would have included a few Barred Rocks, too, but I can't risk having Zara or Athena's eggs in the bunch and Hector has only been with Maddie and Jane a couple of days so not sure they'd even be fertile anyway.
It was weird starting up this incubator. I think the last time I used it was when I hatched Bash himself.

:D Good for you!
Not much of an enabler, are ya? LOL. I just kept seeing old videos and pics of my Brahma babies and they were always so much fun. If Jill, Maddie or Jane give me an egg by tomorrow morning, I'll pop that in there, too. I just need to be sure it isn't from Athena or Zara and I can always tell Wendy's eggs from how rough they are.
