New Brinsea Bator - $99 OMG

No, you would still stop turning on day 18. They have to get into position to hatch and continuing to turn could mess that up.....at least that is what I have heard. As tightly packed as my babies always are on day 18 I don't think I could shake it hard and move them!!!

48 hours?
is that what Brinsea recommends or is that from your own experience Susan? Mine is coming Tuesday and my eggs are too. I figured the incubator could warm up for 24 hours while the eggs came to room temperature.
48 might be pushing it for the eggs.

You can get the user manual for this and all Brinsea incubators at the link below if you'd like to see what they recommend in advance.

I did download it, thanks very much
but I only found this, nothing about 48 hours
4.8 Allow the incubator to run for at least an hour to stabilise the temperature before making adjustments or setting eggs.

what am I missing?

My resistance is seriously weakening as I read through this thread and think of Brinsea's reputation. We really don't need this, but I really do want it. We've already got a turner too, so the shipping charge would be cut significantly.

Just need to work on my opening line for when I tell my "chicken neutral" wife about it.....

I ordered the Oct 20 Advanced which was more expensive but only $24 to ship since the turner is included.
It's also got temp and humidity digital read outs and will take the auto humidity accessory if I get desperate (ie I kill eggs).
This was how I rationalized the more expensive bator......... plus I got scared reading everyone's posts on temp and humidity fluctuations.
This incubator looks like my best chance!

You are going through same process I was few days ago.

I do not need it but since is so reasonable and I alwais wanted Brinsea, I have to have it.

I lost the struggle and bought it, last defense was not to buy it
cause it holds only 24 eggs, however I realized I am raising Bantams only lately, so it will hold more eggs....

Don't torture yourself,

just buy it, Yes you can! Give yourself a "bonus", you deserve it!

LOL

Any bator should be given a minimum of 48 hours, especially a new one.
An extra day WILL NOT hurt the eggs.

$22 for shipping IS NOT a big deal and should not be a deal breaker.
$42 is high and should be questioned when you call and order.

Hi Everyone,
I spoke to Brinsea this morning.
The woman I talked to "Rose" said we are all only being charged 34.00 dollars shipping.
She said the website does that,as it is reading it like two separate orders, but when she inputs the order, and actually charges the card,it is the correct price of 34 dollars. She says UPS is charging a fortune right now,and she is very sorry their site sucks..lol
She says be sure to look on your statement with teh package and it should show you were charged the 34, not 42,and if in fact you were please call her and she will issue a refund.
Mine shipped this morning!
