New Brinsea Octagon Eco 20 Arrived!

I am waiting for my Brinsea to arrive, how quick did they ship your order?

Spore, it took a full 7+ days to get it to me. It's coming UPS ground from FL, so me being in CA and you in OR are about as far away as we can be!! Throw in a weekend and it takes a bit.

OK, so I blew it on my first hatch with this incubator. I got too excited and did NOT get the temp regulated BEFORE I put the eggs in. It was hovering at 98.6 when I got it fired up (and holding steady). So we all know that isn't warm enough for the little eggies. I did finally get it where it is supposed to be, but too late for this batch of eggs. Now that I have it right, the temp is holding nicely.

I may add the humidity pump, but it seems to be holding humidity very well even without it. I also have a secondary thermometer/hygrometer inside. I was a little bummed that there wasn't some kind of port for the little probe thingy, so I just squeeze the meter in where I can with the eggs.

Anyway, I just bought another batch of eggs to try. TG my hubby has no idea how much I've spent on eggs that didn't hatch.

Okay, I will be patient for it to arrive. How long did it take for you to get it calibrated and stabilized?

I'm working on getting the temp steady on mine, it arrived yesterday. Right now it is running at 101.3, so I'm slowly bringing it down. I've been working on it all day, it is either too high or too low. But it does certainly hold a steady temp.

I got my temperature stabilized within the first day. It was a little high so I tweaked it. I did wait a few hours between adjustments as the manual suggests waiting at least 4 hours. My chicks are pipping in it now and I've been very happy. I was going to buy a hygrometer when I got it but after reading through the manual I decided to do the egg weight curve instead. I weighed them 3 times and they seemed to be losing at the correct rate so I went ahead and locked down with water in both trays. We'll see how hatching goes. If it doesn't go great then I'll probably invest in a good hygrometer. I was excited to get the Brinsea and I'm not disappointed. Good luck with it!

Well, wonders will never cease....I thought the batch of eggs was a total flop. I had ONE Welsummer egg hatch overnight! It's the one and only one that made it!!
