new brooder

I was given a 8' round galvanized steel stock tank to use as a brooder. It was used as a pond and has some rust, which i will remove. Does anyone have an idea of what i could use to coat it with once it is cleaned? I would rather use something other that tar since it will have chicks in it.

Hmmm I wonder if you could paint it with the paint they sell to recoat chain link fencing...It is a silver paint and I used once quite a few years ago...I do remember that it took a long time to dry...Maybe they have improved it since then...

Regular ol' latex paint is non-toxic if the chicks should peck at it. I doubt they will peck, if the paint is not peeling.

Thanks, i have plenty of paint i can use after i get it cleaned up.
