New BST Policy -- questions

I will let you guys and gals in on a little secret here. The rules where compiled and organized by the staff here, but the basis of them came from hundreds of PM's, suggestions and reports from the general membership. So in effect these rules came into being due to the requests of the members themselves.

Just a heads up, no matter if we like or agree with the rules or not, you will be reprimanded by the ADMIN staff here. Such as above about bumping. I inadvertantly did it the other day and was immediately told i couldn't do it and it was removed. Not the best thing to hear being a new person on here (pride hurts) but it was in fact nessassary for them to do it cause i broke the rules. This is a very busy site and with alot of traffic on here, peoples posts do fall very fast but as one ADMINISTRATOR said earlier, they are working to improve that. JMHO here but Be sure and don't do like me and not know the rules completely or at least be able to refer back to them if theres any doubt.

Hi Terrie and Nifty,

I think the new 'rules' are great. I will be the first to admit that I have not been conducting myself within the framework of them, not knowing what was expected. I really didn't even understand the concept of a 'bump' until now and realize the my going on and on about the eggs and farm and horses and pigs and cows and child adoption has had a negative effect on others... So sorry!

I am glad to see a clear outline of how we can be fair to everyone and want to say thank you for taking the time to put it in place.

I guess there is a difference though between members here posting links, and outside advertisers, with little real input, dropping in to promote their wares.

If I owned the site I would want revenue friom those people.

twigg~ I respectfully disagree with you. If you want someone here to buy it, sell it here. If you want to sell on an auction site sell it there. Those posts just take away from people trying to sell here. Why should someones post fall off the page here for an ebay or eggbid auction?

What's worse is people linking to Craigslist ads and auctions for folks who aren't even members here. Now that takes away from our members and is very frustrating, especially when we don't know anything about them and often someone's personal information is posted and they're not aware of it because they aren't a member.

ps .... the BST Forum is not some private little club .... we are each members, and would each choose to use it in our own way.

Finding the balance is the key, not banning certain uses just because others feel slighted.
