New Buttons hatched (Pics Added)

I agree. It is amazing how different they can be. That is what is great about them. That and the sounds they make. Very cool. I am considering separating mine into breeder cages. I found some inexpensive cages at walmart for parakeets but I could put screen around the outside to keep the babies in and separate them into breeding pairs that way. Would be taller so they don't hit their heads and easier to clean than what I have now. How do you have yours set up?

I think it's interesting the different colors we get... I have a normal brown hen that crossed with a blue breasted male... I have 3 males that are blue like daddy, but have normal-brown feathers mixed in on their backs...

Go figure. But the cinnamons are soooooo pretty... I can just sit there and watch them for hours, looking at all the pretty colors.

I love mine too buti do feel lied to (ha ha) from all the articles i read saying how wonderful they are ....(as in tame pets)...they're more of a "look at bird" than a pickup and pet bird LOL

No, they're not. Some are tamer than others, but they still will run if they can. But the coturnix will actually jump out of the cage and into the bowl of food I carry around to feed them with...

They're so sweet.

Awww! So cute! My eldest decided last night that he wants quail. He's not been interested in poultry for a while so I am thrilled!

Now I gotta get the game bird license (stupid NC!) so I can get some.
