New BYC Breed Database - Submissions Needed - Free GFMs!

I see a reference to Production Reds - i thought they were RIR's but I gather not? What are they then? Also I bought chicks labelled "Brown Leghorns" but can't find any references to that breed. They have feathered in very prettily - white with caramel.
(The Production Reds are they watchdogs of the group - they chase off songbirds, chipmunks and even squirrels!)
Thanks for any light someone can shed on these breeds.

We do have leghorns in the database. Brown leghorn is a variation of leghorn.

No RIR's are not production reds but production reds are frequently sold as RIR. Their color is lighter sometimes dark and originally were cross breeds of RIR and NIR's to give a high production egg layer. Production reds also go by red stars depending on hatcheries and are often sex linked. RIR should be dark red, mahogny almost. I thought my production was a RIR but found out later she was sex linked production red. Who lays brown eggs, lots of them! 7 days a week. Production reds can be aggressive and don't do well in tightly confined quarter.

See told you all i was working on the page....

I am doing kind of a project with my Barred Rock chicks... I take pics of them every week and although my husband rolls his eyes when I get excited on Wednesdays and say "Oh it's peep picture day!!!" I totally enjoy watching and recording their growth. Anyway, I mentioned this to one of my friend's that is also on BYC and she said someone on here might be interested in seeing my picture project. If not, it is no big deal, but if someone is interested in seeing pics of each week as they grow, just let me know and I will see about putting a page up.

:D I'm looking for Java chicken's to be added if possible (actually, any variety that is pre-disposed to pasture) plus to include information on your list if other variety thrive on pasture living versus caged/feed living. I've read that the Java is the quinticential "homestead" type chicken. However, I've had trouble locating a hatchery that sells black or white Javas. Thanks again for taking this project on!
