New BYC Breed Database - Submissions Needed - Free GFMs!

Quote:
Yes! anyone can submit a page. Please check our breeds database and make sure a page has not already been done on the breed you are interested in. https://www.backyardchickens.com/breeds/breed-chart We will still look over duplicates and may combine pages if the 2nd page has something additional to offer, however, we are more concerned with adding new breeds.

Please submit only large-sized, clear photos that were taken by you or have been donated by another bycer.

all you need is photos... adult bird photos as well as chick, juvenile and eggs... so, if you only have one bird, you might consider doing a simple page. A detailed main page needs.. well, lots of detail

click on the Breeds link at the top of the page. Then select "breed chart" then submit a simple page. There is a template that will walk you through it. Thanks!

I would be happy to do the page for the Sicilian Buttercup. We are currently raising 2 roosters and 2 hens of this particular breed and love their beautiful colors and interesting personalities.

I was just wondering if it is possible when we get all the breed pages submitted, if we could have a "Which Breed is Right for Me?" quiz, kinda like My Pet Chicken's. People could just take a small quiz asking questions like what colour of eggs they want, if they are hardy in warm or cold weather, if they go broody and so on and so on. It could then match the results with the perfect breeds for them. People are always saying on the forum, what breed should I get? So I think this could be a great solution.

UPDATE:

Nifty is preparing to transfer over our new Breed Database and delete the original one. We appreciate all of the submissions we've received so far and are granting GFM's as they are approved. This has been a long process so thank you for being patient. We are extremely proud of this new Chicken Breed Index and all of the information that is now readily available to all of our members as well as anyone on the net.

There are still a few issues we are sorting out like duplicate breed pages. We have approved the first one to meet Nifty's criteria. The remaing pages will be transferred to the simple format. We still have many breeds that need documented so, if you were planning to do a Main Page for one of those breeds, please get to it. First to get approved is the first to have their page be on our new Breed Database and the first to get the GFM.

If you are wondering what is up with your page, please pm me and I'll get right on it. Allaboutdemchicks and I are trying to keep up with them when we get time but, things may fall through the cracks. If you recently submitted a page, give us a week to contact you.

Remember there are also bantam varieties of many of of these breeds that we still need pages for!!
