I had a ridiculous dream and had to share it with you people, who might relate.

(preface: last week I found a paper grocery bag in a closet with enormous long trails of some plant growing out of it. I looked inside and then remembered, Oh yeah, I was trying to find a cool dark place for those potatoes.)

So I dreamed that when I got my chicks, they gave me extras, and I put them in a paper bag in a closet and forgot about them. Three or four weeks later I remembered and panicked and went to look. I open the closet door and find running around one full grown hen who is fine, two large strange exotic birds who are also fine but kinda freaky and not chickens at all, and still in the bag one alive but starving scraggly skeletal rooster.

I need to chill out about the chicks.

I had that same anxiety from the time I actually realised- OMG THERE ARE REAL EGGS IN THAT INCUBATOR THEY MIGHT HATCH OMG! I studied my head off about everything about chicks. The truth is, it's scary knowing that you are responsible for these weak, tiny creatures. But when you see them and raise them, and you have studied and everything, they are just the best things ever and I tell my babies that every day! Sometimes you have to follow your gut and go against the facts, sometimes you gotta follow them.
Don't worry- you'll be great!
And chicks aren't potatoes- you'll spend every moment thinking about and hearing them!!!
