new chicken added and then something is wrong

I have to agree with you, Cynthia.

Over the years I have learned (sometimes the hard way with much heartache) that the only answer is to put down the animal(s) in question to save the flock.

One of my pet peeves with new flock owners (please no offense to anyone intended) is the lack of biosecurity ESPECIALLY when adding birds to an existing flock that where not raised by the flock owner.

It is vitally important that new birds be quarrentined well away from the existing flock for a minimun of 30 days. I have even gone 60 days before adding new birds to a flock.

If any new owners are reading this thread if you do nothing else whatsoever please remember to keep new birds away form your flock until you can inspect for parasites and watch for potential disease and other health problems for at least a month or longer.

Please use this as a lesson learned that you won't have to learn the hard way.
