Welcome Timeless! This forum has been an absolute wealth of information.Thank you! It is peaceful and extremely entertaining. Our English bulldog has peeked in at the chicks and licked his lips. He will be slowly integrated with them. He doesn’t care about the older girls they all do their own thing outside. How do your dogs do with your chickens?

I think we lucked out that we had two dogs (older M Lab and F PWD) with a low prey drive when we got chickens. They roam freely around chickens/chicks with no issues.
However, when my sister visits with her male PWD, we need to keep him leashed up as he has a very high prey drive. So I guess it depends on the dog?

Hello! Nice to be here!Hiya, and a belated welcome to BYC!!![]()
I have one Yorkie that doesn't care about the hens until THEY FLY!!! then watch out! . My old dog stares at them through fence and locks eyes and barks loudly ( all 10 pounds of him) lol. Mine don't free range but dogs don't care for the most part. But if they're chicks! my Yorkie tried to eat it. !!!!Thank you! It is peaceful and extremely entertaining. Welcome. I cannot trust my dogs with my chickens. On some level, we have to remember that animal instincts rule - even higher than training.Thank you! It is peaceful and extremely entertaining. Do the vets put them on angiotensions and diuretics?I'm on number 6. All adopted. They are incredible dogs but 40% of them suffer from dilated cardiomyopathy. I've lost 3 out of 5 to it and think my current gal has it. I obviously still think the breed is worth it.
