1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are new to having chickens and there is so much to learn! I have read many old forums on this site and decided that I needed to join.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I believe we have 58 now.

(3) What breeds do you have?

1 Dominique Rooster
3 Caifornia White layers
3 Silver Laced Wyandottes
1 Silkie
3 Serama Hens
3 Serama Roosters (recently rehomed them)
The rest are all offspring that we have hatched over the last few months.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Googled many questions regarding chickens and have read many posts. You all rock!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Going to try our hand at gardening this year. I have always loved plants and flowers and have many so I thought I would try something edible.


(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We have several dogs and cats. Many were rescued and given a second chance. I love all of my babies.. taking care of everything is a fulltime job but I'm also a Real Estate agent.

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, please get your chickens some Vaseline or bag balm to stave off frostbite before they get it! Baby, it's cold outside!
