New Chicken Momma

I have retired and decided I want to have a few hens and a rooster . I bought a really nice coop... it's been delivered.... the fence is going up around the yard... Now I need help finding chickens. I want pullets that will be ready to lay soon but have had a hard time finding them.. and the prices are outrageous.... I am wanting heavy hens like the Road Island Reds.. brown and colored eggs.. I live outside of Bryan College Station.

I am also looking for a lot of advice!

Understand that most frequently cheap birds in the long run are not a good buy. Good luck in establishing your flock.
