Around the Emerald Isle area.Awesome what part, I am in Pembroke, near Lumberton North Carolina..
She is adorable for sure! I've never had down sticking to my chicks feet before. But, then, I'm pretty OCD about clean brooders.Wow, for some reason I didn't notifications for the rest of the wonderful replies! Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it.
So the hatchery was kind enough to send me 4 more birdies. One of them died but the rest seem to be fitting in well with the one week older birds. I did see improvement once I switched from the plate to a heat lamp. I recently switched again to a ceramic heating bulb and it is amazing! It doesn't emit light but does emit the same amount of heat as a heat bulb. Now maybe these playful girls will learn the difference between night and day. It's also hard to take good photos of them under red light.
I'm going to make them a bigger brooder this weekend because those little ladies are growing sooooo fast! I can see their feathers coming in quickly and they are starting to get their shedded down stuck on their feet! Lol!
I also never thought I'd see personalities so much in them but they absolutely do show their own. I have one that is probably going to be my "lap chicken" because she is so sweet! And then I have 3 that are nosey and curious and I expect they will end up being the leaders of the flock while also being the "annoying sisters". Hahaha!
I'm going to try to attach a photo of my favorite one so far. She is the only one who has a name yet. My son picked Henrietta for her name. She's the sweetie one. View attachment 2031309
