New chicken owner here!

Welcome to BYC! :frow The first picture looks like it might be feather picking. What do you feed them? And how much space do they have?
Thank you! I feed them scratch feed and laying pellets mixed together. I have 9 chickens and they don’t have as much space as I would like for them to have but as much as my husband will allow. :/ I will attach a picture. Sometimes they get to come out for a bit.

Hi! I am new here. I have backyard chickens and can’t wait to communicate with other chicken owners. I acquired my chickens from my grandfather who passed away in a terrible car accident. It was his wish to give them to me. I am always worried about them and look forward to advice from other chicken owners because I don’t know what I am doing! But I also very much enjoy it.
Welcome to the family! You aren't alone. I am new too (our first chicken purchase was in June of this year), and even decided to incubate eggs too! 😆 I am going for it all apparently.

Hiya Felicia, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

I agree with @chrissynemetz that it looks like feather plucking. If it were mites, I've never had chickens with them but my understanding is you can barely see them. With 9 full-grown chickens that run/coop you posted, it seems at first appearance that it's a bit small for them and could lead to bad behaviors.

Welcome to BYC. I'm sorry for the loss of your grandfather. Scratch is low in protein and is best served as a treat. If they don't get enough protein they are more likely to fight and pull feather from each other. Your space seems too limited. If you cannot take up more yard space, try adding perches and platforms in your run.
