Welcome to BYC! I love Orpingtons! Until this year I was partial to Buff Orpingtons and Australorps, and now I have 3 young Lavender Os. One cockerel for sure, one pullet for sure, and one I'm not sure of. They are about 8 weeks old right now, so in a few more weeks I should know. I think you will love your flock. Have you thought about keeping a bachelor pad for the cockerels? I'm going to try that this time. Then conjugal visits with the girls. I think it's easier on the girls, but I'll be looking for a lot of guidance myself because I haven't tried it before.
Glad you joined.
and Welcome to Backyard Chickens.
to have you here with us. Enjoy your time here at BYC!
Welcome to BYC from near Dothan, not too far from you!Hello all! I've just became the new owner of a lavender orpington flock. 7 hens and 4 roos. All are just over 2 months old. I've been researching chicken keeping for a while now. Seeing which breeds would be good to start with. My mom recommended this site and I'm glad she did. So much info and resources. I look forward to learning and growing with the community.
Also, I will be posting the roos for sale/trade soon if anyone is in the Phenix City al/ Columbus ga area.
