Hello all,
I am a new chicken owner. I got my first round of chicks about three weeks ago. I got 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Gold Laced Wyandottes pullets. I've always wanted to raise my own flock since I was young adult. When I was a teen I had a flock of rescues that I took care of for a couple years. I love to interact with the chickens and they give me great joy to come home to. My family consist of my Wife, two teenage boys, my dog named Caesar, cat name Vinny, and a gecko named Larry. My youngest is the only other one in my family that is as excited to have chickens. My oldest wants nothing to do with anything that he might get dirty doing. My wife tells my youngest and I that those chickens are our girls. I've been a member of BYC for a couple years now. I am currently serving in the Military (soon to be retired) and we never had the chance to raise chickens of our own. I look forward to reading more of your articles and learning more about raising chickens.
