New chickens stupid chickens

Hi and welcome.

I wonder if your chicken is thinking "Stupid owner, poured water on my head!" ;)Hopefully it wasn't too hot and she will recover. Did you manage to dry her off?
As a chicken owner, you have a number of responsibilities. Keeping your chickens on your property and safe are probably two of the important ones. It was nasty of your neighbour to kill them but in my opinion it was not their responsibility to fence against your livestock or pets. It would be another matter altogether if their dog was coming through the fence and killing your chickens on your property. Just my opinion, but I think it is important that people don't blame others without examining their own part in the problem.
Good luck with your flock

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock!:welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry. There is always space for more members on the BYC roost! It sounds like the poor chicken was trying to get water and accidently stuck her head underneath. She isn't stupid, it's something that my dog or cat even does. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!

Hi and welcome to BYC. Do you think that you bird simply has water in her nares (holes in beak)? I guess if its been going on for a few days then that's not the issue. If she does have some kind of infectious bronchitis then I'd be inclined to suggest that it was not the water issue that caused it, but merely precipitated the exhibition of symptoms. Either way, you could post your question here:
