Hey fellow chicken folks I'm new here and have a question about my chickies. They are almost 2 months old and we just moved them to their new coop but they don't seem to get going down the ramp in the morning to go out and play. I have to remove the ramp and put each one down onto the ground beneath the coop. The girls go up at night just fine but for some reason can't get the swing of going down. Any suggestions on how to get the girls use to it?? Thanks in advance.

My girls stood and looked down the ramp for a good half and hour before one of them finally plucked up the courage to go down and the others followed. Mine never liked going up, so I had the reverse problem. Have you tried laying a trail of treats down the ramp - something so irresistable they'd just have to go down?

Forgot to say

they're young. they'll get there eventually. ours used to throw themselves out of the hole (at the wrong end of the hole in the floor for the ramp).

[edit] i realise this doesn't actually, ya know, help or anything...

Mine were wierd about it too. Just give em a few days and they will figure it out. I would suggest NOT putting them down and eventually one will either fly down or walk down. At first mine flew both directions, now the walk up and fly down.

Well the girls finally decided that this morning was the morning to go down the ramp one by one alone without my help. I was beginnging to thing I had some not so smart chickies. Thanks for all the ideas and I'm sure I will be asking for ideas in the future.
