New chicks almost laying!!!

I got two RIR from a farm yesterday, he claims they had just started laying, don't know how he knows since he had about a hundred of them. They should be of age, so could the "new" environment slow them down a little? If they are ready to lay, is there any signs?

Moving takes some time to. It may take them two to four weeks to settle in. If their comb and wattles are red they are getting close to laying.
