Kerusnak, welcome to BYC. I am on the coast as well. Ocean Springs. I love Fazzio's! They have the best chicks in there. There are also several FB pages for backyard chickens in Mississippi if/when you start looking for local chickens or to improve your chicken math

Thank you! I know we went in today for garden stuff and I saw red sex links, I tried to convince hubby but he wouldn't let me get them.

I don't have a FB and that is probably a good thing since I don't think hub is letting me increase my chickens with how much I have planned for the garden right now.

Chicapee, If this is your first time hatching, be patient. with lower temps your chicks can take up to 25 days to fully develop.

I so want to try hatching. My DH might have a conniption fit right now though. I think he is afraid to come home from work (he's gone a couple of weeks at a time) to see what changes have occurred when he leaves. As it is, we will soon be in need of another coop (or two) if I were to get all the chicks I'd love to have. Sigh - guess I will have to wait. But, oh, I really want some quality Silkie eggs to try to hatch out and improve upon with breeding.

lol. I know how that goes. I think my husband is also afraid. I will need a new coop or two soon as I am looking for turkey eggs to hatch next. Here is a pic of my babe's that hatched on friday and saturday. They are so cute.
