Even with my silkies I've been able to tell the difference. Some people can if you know what your looking for.

How can you tell the gender of Silkies? I have 4 Silkies which I just don't know what their genders are.

usually the boy has a bigger comb then the girls. all his feathers on the top of his crest are all over the place. His wattles are bigger too. on the hens their feathers are all nice and uniform. His comb will start to get bumpy .

Honestly I sort of agree with this.. out of my 3 Silkies my white one always had more of a "bumpier" comb then the other two who had smooth combs... The white silkie's comb is now getting huge an redish in color.

If its comb is getting redder then yeah its probably a rooster. Mine started to do that it went from blue to reddish blue to red. His wattles though were like a deep blue color but like it was shiny.

I just checked the combs of my Silkies and Easter Eggers. My lighter colored Easter Egger is a rooster since he has little bumps on his comb and the darker one is a hen since she has a smooth comb. As for the Silkies 3 of them have smooth combs and the 4th one has a bumpy comb.
