Hey all, I'm new to this site and would like to say hello and thank you for all the great info I have pulled from here every since I was thinking about getting chickens. My dilemma is as follows: I have an established flock (12 hens and 1 rooster: all about 1.5 years old). I have recently added 14 new chicks to the flock. I did all the quarantining and introduction process as you have all explained. It has all gone really well. My problem now is that the new chicks sleep outside in a huddle. They will not go in the house with the big hens. Before I got the chicks I expanded the perching area to accommodate. I have a red light on in there so they can see. Still they wont go in. I think I saw one or two run in and run back out quickly during the day. The rest don't even know it is there. I am hoping that as they are approaching the same size as the older hens, they will join them at night. Do I need to do more?
