Okay here's the thing.....we started out last spring with 10 Buff Orpington chicks (all pullets), and couldn't be happier with them. We free range them so we knew we might see some losses, which we did. We lost 1 to a dog (not mine), 1 to a fox, and 1 to a hawk.

Since the snow vanished this spring we have been itching to build our flock. We just weren't sure what we wanted to get. I saw Kristas add in the buy/sell department, and figured we'd take a ride to her place, which as it happens, is only about an hour from me. When we rolled up we were greeted with about 9 MILLION hens and roos (okay not that many but you get my drift). What a SIGHT it was! She has GORGEOUS chickens buy the way.

Okay okay, long story short....we picked out a mix of 2 or 3 breeds (I think) and were on our way home.

Here are the most recent pics. There are some that I TOTALLY forgot what breed they are, so if you folks could help me out, it would be great. I'm not going to repost any of them in the "what breed is this" area because well that would just be silly.

Oh and if you notice the copyright on the pics....no I did not hire a photographer to take the pics.....my wife IS a photographer.

Take a look at the website link under my avatar, you can access the blog from there as well.
Thank you for setting me straight on what we have for chicks! It was a bit overwhelming while we were right there deciding what we wanted. They were all so beautiful I wanted to take em' all with me!

All the chicks are fitting in nicely in their new accommodations. Our big Buff Orp ladies don't seem to pay them any mind at all, except for the broody one, she gets kind of irritated LOL
I let them loose into the run during the day and crate them at night. I'm going to put them in the coop with the other ladies in the next night or two. I just want to make sure they are all well acquainted first.

Thanks again, and fell free to contact us anytime with ANY questions you might have about portraits.
