new chicks: yay! to omg..

well. for the past 2 months i've been SO excited about getting silkies. and i wanted a buff SO bad. anyway, yesterday they got sent off. today, we got them ( i was at school) and they delivered the chicks to our door. the man said, "they sure are roudy in there!"
when my mom opened the box she found all but three dead. i was suppost to have seven.
the roudyness was one of the suviving chicks..
two white, two splash, two blue, and one buff.
ha. yeah. i got my buff. she was dead tho. all i have now is two whites. before one splash was hanging on, but he died about two hours ago.
so far, one of my whites is just amazing. (hes the roudy one) and i call him Zip.
the other one just isnt doing too hott..
shes eating and drinking, but she cant walk...
whats wrong with her?

I'm not sure what's wrong with your babies, but I hope your not-walking one makes it. Is there anything wrong with her legs, or dose she just seem to not want to walk?

Can you get a replacement or refund for the chicks you lost? I'm so sorry you lost so many of them!

Do try vitamins and electrolytes in the water or if you don't have it use sugar today and then get the other (~1/2 tsp of either in one quart of water). Be sure temp of brooder is 95 degrees in one area and a few degrees cooler on the other end. Make sure they drink and eat!

just an fyi for the future ... I'd ship with more chicks

... 1st there's not enough warmth, and 2nd there's not enough of a "bumper" should they really get rattled ...

I hope these last ones make it ... that really is so disappointing

you might want to do poly-vi-sol drops on the beaks ( or nutri-drench ) ... silkies tend to have larger problems with vitamins deficiencies and might need more than what the grow gel & chick starter provides.
