Hi, my name is Chelsi and I just recently rescued a lone Muscovy duckling I found that seemed sick but now seems to be in excellent health. He's about 4 1/2 weeks old right now, I found him either the day he hatched or a day after.
I live in Hawaii and work at an orchid nursery, so I bring him with me to work every day to minimize any separation anxiety. I take him with me to the store, have bought diapers (for when he's older so that he can come hangout inside the house sometimes), I'm feeding him non-medicated, organic duck/chick feed, has toys, unbreakable mirrors, etc.
I guess what I'm asking is how and when should I introduce this little guy to the numerous chickens and male Muscovy duck that I have in the yard? My biggest concern is the male Muscovy, I want to be able to get him to a point where he can roam the yard without being attacked or killed by him.
I should note that once he's about 8+ weeks, I'm going to be keeping him outside with the chickens but in a large roofed and fenced enclosure to help get him used to them too instead of just humans.
I want him to have the best life I'm able to give, and I'm sure that's not with me but I'd feel terrible if I just released him and something happened.
Thanks in advance for the help.
